How much HP do we lose between FW and RW?

Any ideas on that loss? Assuming the clutch, tranny, and Diff are in good/average condition.

General rule of thumb is 10-15%.

PS, its bhp (brake horsepower), not fwhp (front wheel horsepower)...

I think he might have meant FlyWheel

Brake Horse Power? How would you define that?

HP at the flywheel.

When I put my stock 91 TII w/82K @ the time on a dyno for a baseline, I had 12.5% loss.

BTW, this is a pet peeve of mine....

If you want to know flywheel horsepower, pull the motor and put it on an engine dyno. If you want to know the power to the wheels, roll it onto a Dynojet.

Why would you want to know what the power loss is? The only reason I've ever seen is so people can fudge their horsepower numbers up a bit.

I always quote rear wheel horsepower - it's easy to compare it with other people to see where you are. Trying to fudge it up to look like a bigger number at the flywheel is just an ego inflator - IMHO, that number is worthless.

If you want a point of reference, a stock '87-88 TII does about 150 to the ground, and about 120 to the ground for an '86-88 NA. The numbers should be a little higher for the '89-91 cars. This is for a relatively healthy car that's bone stock.

A lightly modded TII can hit 200 at the ground without breaking a sweat. 140-150 is about right for a typical modded NA - cone intake and full exhaust.
