How many miles on your orig 13b?

Just out of curiosity. How many miles on your FC? Original motor of course. I'm in the market for an FC and wanna gauge how long a original motor can go.

InMyWhiteTII 02-19-06 08:25 AM

87 TII 148,000 and still pulls hard
86 Base Model 100,000 and pulls hard (for an NA)

SirCygnus 02-19-06 09:10 AM

around 190+k miles on it. starts weather its cold or hot. clutch ( original ) grips fine.

i rev that bastard to redline all the damn time too so i dont give it mercy really. and i take horrible care of my car. i changed my oil once after 10k miles. lol. i felt a little bit bad, but then again, 3k miles is recommended by the people you buy oil from, who pay the auto manufacturers.

dont ask so shut up

DREYKO 02-19-06 09:28 AM

258xxx on my old n/a 88 engine it ate its coolant seals because of my own stupidity i let it over heat and its my first car so i didnt know the danger of it. my new 91 engine has 103xxx miles runs like a dream

DemonicPupil 02-19-06 09:37 AM

86 GXL. 180k on the clock, original motor. Still pulls hard. Daily Driven, starts no matter what. Fast off the line, slow in the top end, think my 5/6 are evil.

Goofy 02-19-06 09:50 AM

'88 GXL - 104000 currently and I can't find a damn thing wrong with it.

jgrts20 02-19-06 10:02 AM

86 GXL- 104000 and still runs like new(well almost)

MrFC3S 02-19-06 10:07 AM

173,000, but ive only owned it for about 500 of those miles. Good maintaince is the key word... If you dont take care of any car, itlll fall apart. These cars are just more sinsitive to poor maintaince than most other cars. As long as you keep it cool, keep it lubed, and dont rag the hell out of it every chance you get. it will last as long as you wish. Also, dont let it sit for any long period of time and once a week redline the engine to break up carbon in the engine.

jdonnell 02-19-06 10:11 AM

163K. Bought it new in 1990. Still got it.

88rxn/a 02-19-06 11:02 AM

47,000 miles... motor and chassis... 88 6 port turbo....woot!!
no rebuild

DASUPACAT1 02-19-06 11:05 AM

Seems like the n/a last way longer than a turbo. Damn I really want a turbo.

Syonyk 02-19-06 11:12 AM

88 N/A (SE), just under 121k miles, I had to rebuild the engine. I know for a fact the first two owners were female, and given that the aux ports were totally seized, I suspect it was never pushed past 4000 RPM for a good chunk of it's life. I'd also wonder about the frequency of the oil changes.

I've got about 20k on the rebuild now, it's working fine.

90 NA with 180K miles. Still runs super smooth, I've had it for two years and the previous owner let it sit for two years and I bought without a trranny. Bolted up tranny, replaced fuel lines, adjusted timing and TPS and it fired right up. Even after sitting for so long.

I change my oil every 2k miles, I'm anal about that.

bigdv519 02-19-06 11:47 AM

90 Vert bought with 148xxx, now has ~195xxx. Motor still turns on, but car is immobile.

FirstRotaryExp 02-19-06 12:03 PM

87 sport has 215xxx miles, just replaced original clutch too. 88 Se has about 180xxx on it, drinks a bit of coolant every now and then.

RotaryX 02-19-06 12:18 PM

130,000 on a 87 TII. But will be replace with a ported motor. :)
Still runs good.

bigdaddyp 02-19-06 12:23 PM

133,000 miles on mine. Checked compression the other day, 110 on all 3 sides of both rotors.

Kai 02-19-06 12:24 PM

170xxx, '86 Sport. The original clutch is finally on it's way out, but the engine starts and runs fine every time.

BigPimpin' 02-19-06 01:17 PM

162.000 runs like a top. '88 GTU bone stock!

<3FCRX 02-19-06 01:23 PM

80000 on my 87 NA, still pulls hard.

Alex6969 02-19-06 01:29 PM

110k on my 86 GXL bad oil rings and bad coolant seals, but once she warms up she screams like the devil.

boyly 02-19-06 01:37 PM

138xxx on my 10AE, still good but i think i have a vac leak somewhere

Jigsaw 02-19-06 01:44 PM

78,000 on my 88 Turbo, runs amazing!

fc-austin 02-19-06 01:46 PM

199,000 on 86 sport, 99,918 on my ,88 GTU

Syncro 02-19-06 01:54 PM

114k on TII. Pulls hard, but I think it's eating coolant and has a weak idle. VAC leaks I (hope) think!
