it's not difficult to place screw down a strap in the storage bins for a conventional battery and lock the box

i'll consider the hydrogen issue a myth until i see some evidence of it being an issue, yes i have seen batteries explode if overcharged and some fool sitting there arcing the battery over and over again but that is an issue of stupidity under a set of circumstances and not the norm. i've only seen one 7 alternator cause overcharging issues and it was on an FD, you also need an ignition source and a heavy amount of condensed gases.

Ironically, your denial of reality is itself an issue of stupidity.

i never once said it was perfectly safe but it is hardly the issue that you make it sound.

there is safety precautions that can be in place to make it a safer than simply laying it into the bin. and there is no battery that is safe to place inside the car.

you can find a battery with vented caps that you can place a hose on to vent the gases outside the car and place the battery in a metal enclosed box.

BUT having worked in the automotive field for over 20 years the ONLY failures i have ever seen were from techs not charging batteries properly and/or allowing the area to air out before disconnecting the overcharged battery(which were usually left on a quick charge for hours while the battery began to boil off high amounts of gas and swell up like a balloon).

in all honesty i would prefer to be able to smell the hydrogen as a warning that there is an issue with the charging system versus venting it.

i once heard that driving cars is hazardous too. i've seen plenty of pictures of people turning into hamburger from simply driving their car on a liesurely drive while getting plowed by a semi truck. maybe i'll wear bubble wrap everytime i go outside too.

Hydrogen gas is odorless.

pure hydrogen gas perhaps, overcharge a battery and it smells like rotten eggs.

The smell comes from the sulfuric acid in the battery. I'm not sure if it is carried by the hydrogen gas, oxygen gas, or both.

My bad, I forgot about that part. Probably SO2.

Now the interstate Megatron-Plus = one of the best batteries ive ever owned with a very reasonable price and great warranty. I would highly reccommend this battery to any 7 owner. Great CCA's, and very very reliable.

well dont go crazy and think just cause one type took a dump on you that they are all crap

i also started 12 years ago with a red top and it took a dump in less than a year so since it was warrantied i took it back and got a new one. well less than a year and it took a dump as well.warranty again and blah blah blah over and over for 6 years i had to get 1-2 of them replaced a year
well a friend of mine had a yellow top for about 3 years with absolutely no problems at all so i figured i would try one i switched to a yellow top and have had it for 6 years now without a single issue
some like red some like yellow some dont like any of them at all but from my experience, i love my yellow top and hated every red top i had
