How long to replace exhaust mani gasket
So, after finally getting my exhaust manifold gasket in, I'll be replacing it this Saturday. I already have the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, and also the o-rings. So, how long should this take? I also have all the tools you can shake a stick at, and also, I'm no mechanically retarded either. I've done quite a bit of engine work before, everything from swapping engines, to replacing just about every part on my old Supra. I'm just wondering how long this should take, so I can possibly make plans for later that evening.

Depends if you have the heat shield on, much harder if its there. If you have the stock set-up I wouldn't change it unless you plan on getting some aftermarket exhaust. I remember changing my old exhaust it was rusted all over. To get to the manifold I had to get the pre-cat, which required me to take out the cat and so on and so on. In the end it wasn't worth it unless the exhaust had a really bad leak.
Otherwise it should be real quick less than an hour. Lift car remove manifold ( 4 bolts 2 top, 2 bottom) switch gasket put on manifold and lower car. |

Lift car remove manifold ( 4 bolts 2 top, 2 bottom) switch gasket put on manifold and lower car. It'll take a little longer than an hour. Even with aftermarket downpipe. You have to remove the turbo before you can take either manifold off. if its stock give yourself 3 to 31/2 hours. if not stock 2 maybe if youve deleted emissions and such. |
Well, the exhaust leak is extremely bad. The car makes a semi sound like a stock Civic. And all the heat shields are in place, since the exhaust manifold and turbo have never been removed. :( At least I know it won't take all day, which is what I was really hoping for. Thanks for the input guys! :bigthumb:
