how long does it take to pull the motor?

for a fellow rotorhead? im pretty good at car stuff, just wondering what the average time would be. that damn stud on my block is impossible to get out, and im thinking about pulling it. maybe selling it, or figure out something.

i already, have the pre-cat, all coolant/oil drained, manifold removed, turbo removed. if anyone wants to help me...i'll supply free

It only took about 1 hour to pull my friends 12a from his first gen, and we left the tranny attached.

Im going to say i think a TII is going to be harder if you have ac/ps though...

Get a couple friends to help you pull it out thgouh.

Took me half an hour to pull my turbo motor. As long as you have all the wiring harness and hoses disconnected it should not take you more than an hour. Although i did it without an assistant i suggest get one of your buds to help you guide the hoist when pulling the old motor away from the car. Good luck.

If it's your FIRST time, probably a long weekend at MOST. I did mine in 2 days going by the haynes manual and no preivious expirience... BUT i STRIPPED the engine while it was in the car so i pulled out the "block" alone, so i guess if you're puling it w/all teh accessories on it, maybe 1hr or less.....

If you have never pulled an engine before it is easiest to get a copy of the manual from the library and follow it. The manual is pretty close. Ensure to write down all you do, this makes it much easier to reassemble. Unhook the wiring harness from inside the car, I find it much easier then unhooking it from the engine. There are around 5 connectors around the passenger floor area. I have pulled/ put back in 4 engines from NA's but turbos aren't much different. I would say taking your time on your first engine you are looking at a 2-4 hour job, beer breaks included. It is a little more work but much easier to reinstall the engine if you pull the transmission with it.
