How to ID model by VIN??

Just like the subject said I want to know how to ID FC models by VIN. Like to tell if its a TII GTU ect. Thanks

U.S.-spec NA versus turbo only...

JM1FC33...
2 = turbo
1 = NA

So I just look for the 1 or the 2 after the JM? The reason I am asking all this is, my dad wants to get insurance quotes on the different models. I need to find a VIN for a GTU and a TII for quotes.

That's a pretty stupid insurance company... :)
Most insurance companies just ask if it's a coupe or convertible...turbo engine or not...and that's it.&nbsp I've known some who have listings for "coupe, GLX [sic], sport, and convertible" models to choose from...

I think that he means he wants to see if there are any rate differences between the two. Most of the insurance companies go by the VIN nowadays because it is easier to put into the computer database rather than taking a half hour asking what the car has on it. Yes, gone are the days before insurance companies had lots of computers, and a younger Evil Aviator could convince them to check the "2-cylinder" box on the stat sheet. :cool:

Yup that is why I'm looking for the numbers kind of annoying isn't it.

I hate shopping. :mad:

All of the insurance companies I have had since 1988 have charged the same rate for an 1Gen NA coupe, 2Gen NA coupe, and TII with respect to basic coverage. The rates were higher for the convertible models and the FD. Also, the rates will be higher for the newer and/or uplevel models if you also get comprehensive coverage because it will cost more to replace them.

Ya I'm 16 the what ever RX7 I get will be listed under my dad's name, with me as a driver. It also will just have basic coverage so if anything happens to it I'm on my own. I'm not worried about fixing the car myself. Only theft and if some idiot hits me. No offence to anyone but the people in my area drive like idiots. To many people talking on their phones and what not and not paying attention to what they are doing.
