How to Hydrolock a Rotary

Simply drive your 7 in Houston as a daily driver during flood season!
Its that simple! Some people have said (on other forums) that it is impossible to hydrolock a rotary, one person even said you could turn a garden hose on your filter and not damage the engine. I would disagree.

I had one guy try to give me an explanation as to why this portion of the oil filter galley was cracked (right where the dowel pin goes). He said that maybe the engine was so full of water that the housings twisted and the movement of the dowel pin broke the casting. Maybe thats why my dowels came right out without using a puller.

The s4's had a non reinforced dowel landing right there and would break under torquing abuse during violent launches (or detonation). I would imagine it building enough pressure to put a hole through the irons into a water jacket sooner then it would crack the landing.

The water would be putting pressure against all the seals in the combustion chamber, it's more likely that one of them would let go sooner then the dowel landing or the iron.

this happened after i got all the water out and tried to get it cranked over. (S5) It acted like it had no compression (which i later tested for and the results were very bad) and it spilled about 2qts. of oil on the ground from under the filter where the crack was.
