how hard is it to put power steering in
 

When i got my engine it came with a power steering pump. I dont need power steering but it would be nice. How hard it is to put in. how many of that parts are different.

If your car doesn't have a power steerig rack and is the model without PS don't even bother.
If your car is just lacking the pump then go for it if that's what you want. But you should do searches for the oppisite of this and do exactly the oppisite of what they're telling you how to do it. But again if your car wasn't meant to have PS it will be aproject to say the least.

You can't. The power steering on these cars is computer controlled. Non PS cars probably don't have the wiring and controls for the PS setup. There is a small computer under the dash, the pump, cooling loop, and PS rack itself, as well as bracket for the engine. And the wiring in between.

Why would you want to anyway? I love my capped p/s rack.

This may sound crazy, but I just stripped one of my 7's down. I have the whole system for the PS. The rack-brackets, pump, lines, cooler, shaft connector, etc. I dont remember there being any wiring to the pump but I will look tonight. I took it off of an 86 NA that I rolled. Tie rod ends are there but I torched the tips instead of unbolting thinking of getting new ones. I dont remember it being that hard to re-move, but than agin the engine was out of the bay. I was going to put it on another one of my 7's but if i get the thing running again I will sell it to finish my 1st gen project and my jeep project.

Still looking for a dead jet ski so I can pop in a rotory.

All PS pumps have a plug with 6 wires and a plug with 1 wire or 2 wires (depending on year) connecting to it that I have seen.

Not sure, but I would bet that the wiring is in every harness in every car for the power steering. You'd need the computer, of course (I have one somewhere)...Look under your dash, to the left of the steering column, see if there's a 9 X 2 white plug going nowhere- that's your steering computer connector...

I've got all available options wiring in my "base" model, which means Mazda probably wired the same "full" harness in every car to speed up the assembly line process...

I've got a 87 n/a. Its weird but when i put a new window my car it had all the connectors for power door lockes and power windows. i looked in my sisters rx7 its the same year to and it didnt have to same wiring as mine. What does that mean. how much you willing to sale the power steering setup rotary nut. I have the pump already.

hey look at it this way - less weight - although i can't figure out why guys want their 7's lighter........................................... ..................

If it were only that easy. If you actually got a rotary engine in a jetski i'd give you mad props.

I checked a base model rx7 without ps from the factory I have on the premisis for a rebuild. It does NOT have existing wiring for PS.
