How do you turn your FC off?

Me and my friends all have different ways of turning their cars off. I was just wondering how you turn yours off.

Mapy 08-19-07 12:09 PM

turbo timer...

0verb00st 08-19-07 12:11 PM

I have an N/A, thats the main reason I was asking, sorry for leaving that option out...it was dumb, I forgot about it.

Mapy 08-19-07 12:21 PM

haha umm when i had my na i just waited couple of minute before shutting it off. Or u can still get a timer n let it set to a certain time n let it auto shut off just my option

FCKing1995 08-19-07 12:23 PM

Why would you do anything BUT take the key out? All the rest are stupid, sorry :wallbash:

Osirus9 08-19-07 12:28 PM

you should make a new thread about what different people do to START their FC's. I know there would be a lot more interesting stories :D

mazda.junkie 08-19-07 12:32 PM

Does it flood often?

Jpk3200 08-19-07 12:51 PM

I let mine run out of gas lol.

Actually no, I let mine idle for a bit, depending on how hard I just drove it.

The Shaolin 08-19-07 12:54 PM

Stop car.

Set parking brake.

Turn key to OFF.

Remove key from ignition.

Sprint inside and make a thread about it.

RoughRex 08-19-07 12:55 PM

Step one.. grasp the key firmly between the thumb and index finger of your right hand.

Step two.. twist your wrist counter-clockwise (toward yourself) until the key no longer turns, do not attempt to force it.

The car should now be "off". [/sarcasm]

what exactly are we talking about here? Are you having some sort of issue turning the car off?

mazda.junkie 08-19-07 01:01 PM

:uhh:  Im f'in cryin here!!!!

idsigloo 08-19-07 01:06 PM

i drain the coolant and hold the rpms at redline until the motor blows and no longer working. then i've successfully turned off my car. draining the coolant is a must for this to happen. otherwise you're going to be there awhile.

EuroTrader 08-19-07 01:18 PM

I turn the key to the off position, but I have to meake sure I roll my window down first because I can't open my door from the inside (handle is broke) lol :) so if I forget, I have to turn the car back on and roll the window down then open the door, then roll the window back up...

Hear! Hear! All this talk about 'babying' these engines is just horse-puckey!

I have an '87 TII with over 240,000 miles which I bought near new 12 years ago. i drive the p**s out of it every day. Yes, it's my daily driver and has been since 1995. I've crossed the continental divide over 150 times in it. I've driven on freeways and dirt roads. And it's just now getting ready for an engine rebuild.

I would call myself an agressive drive - not angry - agressive. I drive the car hard whenever I'm in it...standing on the gas or standing on the brake.

Now, in the past decade, I've NEVER bothered to do anything beyond removing the key and getting out. "warm up". "cool down", "careful about the maintainence", "they're great engines if you treat them right". All goofy notions.

The rotary is the toughest engine built, period. Even LeMans puts them in their own category.

So, I say *Drive* your car. Just relax and enjoy a *fine* automobile, and the best kept secret on wheels!

Fuel kill switch.
Then I turn the key to the "LOCK" position and pull it out.

danegerous 08-19-07 04:14 PM

I grab my screwdriver out of my console, turn the ignition switch off, shove it back but up in the mess of wires and call it a day. JK ;)

gxl90rx7 08-19-07 04:30 PM

my brothers FCs injectors leak really bad and it has low compression, so the only way to turn it off without flooding it is to do the fuel cut switch thing.. but yeah on my tii, i just turn off the ignition

CarzArKoo1 08-19-07 04:43 PM

let it idle a min then shut it off, iono it makes a difference I do it anyway

Wanked_FC 08-19-07 05:12 PM

30 secs on the turbo timer

xclusive_one 08-19-07 05:17 PM

on rx7.com one way to keep your car from flooding is to depress the gas pedal slightly and shut off the ingition as the rpms climb... my buddy does this alot but I do it if I drive the car for a really short distance or the fuel cut switch.

MmSadda 08-19-07 05:37 PM

Other: I use a fuel cut switch. That's by far the best way to do it; you can't flood the engine.

Copeland 08-19-07 07:47 PM

I'd probably say if you're having a flooding issue that a fuel cut switch will help. If that doesn't help you have compression/electrical problems.

Honda600rr420 08-19-07 07:51 PM

i usually let mine run for a minute just cause i like to get out and here it run it sounds so pretty then i turn the key from the run postion to the lock position then go inside wow that was awesome
