how do you maintain your rotary?
Hi I used to have a 87 FC but I was forced to sell it because of the apex seals coming out of the engine, I have no clue what happened to my FC it had only 117K miles and I changed the oil every 2500k miles and I did tune ups regularly, is this the proper way to maintain a rotary or did I do something wrong? The engine is stock and I used it for high school only which is about 3 miles away from where I live. Any info is appreciated.
thank you |
turbo or na?
actually no... it isnt normal either way! nope, no special way to maintain it... pull out the owners manual |
A lot of people overlook the importance of changing there coolant yearly... and at the least every two years... also air filter, plugs and wires should be changed per FSM...
If you had a broken apex seal, then it was probably due to over boosting or maybe a bad OMP... most n/a's die from wearing out or lack of maintenance. remember the harder you drive a car the faster it will wear out |
^^^ exactly
and they are all in the owners manual if they would just read it hell, take your car to jiffy lube every 3 months, they sure as hell will do all the recommended services :smiley309 :smiley309 :smiley309 :smiley309 :smiley309 :smiley309 |
hell id ask if na or turbo, most turbo cars go out before na, normally id say. but change your oil, plugs, air/oil filter regularly and then just look for any variances. how long have you had the car, what did it run like, how hard did you drive it? in my experiances i drive all my 7's hard from time to time, but i keep them up to par. you take care of your care, it will take care of you. but then again if you just got the car and it went out on you, then you are paying for the last owners mistakes.

wow, just.....wow
|
turbo sevens go faster because it creates more heat and we all know rotaries hate heat

From his sig, I'd guess N/A. Sounds like you got some bum luck. Did you tend to over-rev it, and do you know how the original owner maintained it?
