how do i go about getting my FC to be a twin turbo?

i blew up my s4 engine and i just ordered my s5 from japan2la and i was wondering if i can take my s4 and s5 turbo and make a twin setup from that?

If i can twin my FC where can i buy the twin manifold, if i can get a link that would be cool.

thanks for helping :)

Everything is possible, but i think you need to make your own manifold.

redonwhite 10-24-10 11:08 AM

hmmm how in the world would i do that lol?

Oh boy...things like this make the natives restless

No is the answer

Short answer: No. If the mere thought of any modding - reflected by the response - is 'how,' than no.

Long answer: Isn't the FD TT manifold the same bolt-pattern? You could try using that, but potentially having to run the NS mod, since you wouldn't be running six-kaBILLION solenoids, like on the FD.

If you're bolting it to a new engine, I'd say just get an aftermarket manifold, that way you can relocate the turbos... I think that may be your biggest problem: capacity.

I know how much of a PITA stuffing one turbo in, between the manifold and the frame, much less TWO.

Otherwise: see above.

GeenIdee 10-24-10 11:14 AM

I gues it would be possible, but it would be alot of work, and it will cost mony, i mean.

You need to change everything. But i wonder if you get enough exhaust fumes to keep them going.

ill look into that. ty

redonwhite 10-24-10 11:17 AM

ill just drop this idea then and ill get one huge turbo :)

tuscanidream 10-24-10 11:18 AM

When a common mod to FD's is to swap to a single turbo, why are you thinking backwards? Save your money and keep upgrading the S4/5. :)

TrboSpdAnt 10-24-10 11:22 AM

I wasn't going to suggest that, since I was trying to answer the question, but I do agree.

You can go to Rotary-works and pick up a ST manifold > Here... I think xBoxThug13B has one, FS, as well.. Hit him up.

Either way, you're also going to have to source an external WG. but the ST manifold will relocate the turbo, nicely.

ITs been done before. I made a thread about this a while ago but decided it would be to much work for the gains.

TrboSpdAnt 10-24-10 11:27 AM

Awesome!

Post the link so that he can read it. Maybe it'll either seal the deal to continue or make him have a change of heart.

redonwhite 10-24-10 11:28 AM

ty everyone for your reply's

FD is sequential, his plan is parallel if i understand correctly.

i dont know enough to even know what you just said. allive ever seen for twin turbos is just straight in line with the exhaust.

if parallel means they are straight with the exhaust then yes i want to do that.

raksj04 10-24-10 12:07 PM

won't two turbos that size give you a crap load of lag? your high end would be good.... i think. but the lag would kill you

as i stated im not to smart on this stuff yet. i just enjoy the idea of twin turbos but as im seeing people are saying a single may be better. thats what i have been gathering.

jaggermouth 10-24-10 12:22 PM

Be cool and sell the S5 engine and by a 13b-REW and swap that in. :)

GeenIdee 10-24-10 12:36 PM

the FD has a smal and a big turbo if im correct. At lower rpm turbo 1 does his job, above the biger one takes over.

What i meant with parallel is they both work at the same time. But you do need enough kick out of the exhaust to get them both running.

The time at wide open throttle that the turbo is not working is called lag.

ty for filling me in on the lag. i really didnt have any clue of what that was. why would the 13b have problems pushing the turbos?

but yes i would want my setup to be parallel.

Thank you Jeremy Clarkson!

Both turbos are the same size.

Granted rotaries can spool giant turbos with minimal lag, if you're shooting for flat out response at any given rpm, twins are rather peachy for that. Their combined cfm makes for big power and running smaller turbos increases spool.

However, you can run a non-divided manifold with a large aftermarket single and have a quick spool valve to block one scroll side off until a desired rpm/boost level.

You CAN run twins, sequential, parallel, compound, single...whatever the hell you want. Just do research. Dont bother asking. Makes you sound like someone who just graduated from swapping bone stock b series motors into a honda civic.
