how come no one makes anything cool for our cars

I don't know...it just dosn't seem fair that 3rd gens get all the cool company stuff...and it seems we (2nd gens) get the left overs.. what's up with that, dosn't it get on your nerves sometimes?

for instance, go to the "for sale" section in the 3rd generation part...you'll find many many aftermaket stuff for sale.. but when you go into the 2nd gen part it's nothing but part cars or stock items, very few times do you see a lot of aftermaket stuff for sale...

i don't know i guess i just wanted to get this off my cheast, what do you guys think?

Fingers 08-30-03 04:52 PM

I think you're about as wrong as they come. There are MILLIONS of companies with 2nd gen aftermarket support. The reason why nobody sells the shiat is because they keep it for themselves :D

88IntegraLS 08-30-03 06:22 PM

Sometimes you just have to make your own.

JerryLH3 08-30-03 06:25 PM

Read your signature, you've got a brand name in front of almost every mod.

What in particular are you looking for? There's plenty of aftermarket stuff for FCs, you just have to look a little harder.

mightymouse0x 08-30-03 06:31 PM

i have to agree with u somewhat mrb63083, i noticed that most of the better products are made for the FD. take brake kits for example, every major brake manufacture makes kits for the fd, while the fc gets a couple. its jsut because its newer, im assuming that it was the same sort of deal when the fc's just came out and the 1st gens were being left out. theres still lots of good products for the fc, just harded to find and a little limited

KiyoKix 08-30-03 07:52 PM

I have to highly disagree...now if you mean body mods then you might have a small point. I don't really agree that we don't have parts to buy, maybe it's that you're not searching hard enough ;).

Btw, Integra88LS you have one of the most beautiful sigs on the planet :D.

MaTT_FoULk 08-30-03 08:28 PM

FD owners spend more money and have more money to spend so its only logical that they have more parts availible to them.

neevosh 08-30-03 08:37 PM

FD owners generally have more money to spend. Who wants to develop products for a market that no one can afford the parts for.

Icemark 08-30-03 09:14 PM

I have made numerous parts for the FC. From CF vents, to PD replacements.

The problem is that very few 2nd gen owners want to spend any real money to get quality aftermarket parts.

For example, a couple years back I made a CF center vent replacement. Worked just like the factory, even mounted the same. But it cost me about $40 not including the R&D and mould. So just to break even I needed to sell them for $50-60 each. To truly make a profit, I had to sell them for $70. But everyone that said they wanted to buy one only wanted to pay $40.

Why in the world would I want to make and sell something that I could only sell a cost to make???

I am sure most aftermarket parts manufactures feel the same way.

Turblown 08-30-03 09:19 PM

Because most FC guys are cheap, young of age and most can only afford cold air intakes, lol....

Rotorific 08-30-03 09:26 PM

Man fuck that you guys have all hit good points but its all about STOCK when it comes to 2nd gen owners... if it aint stock then it aint right.... Whatever.

FEDREX 08-30-03 09:46 PM

I think you've been living in a cave...

both cars basicly have the same stock engine dont they excpt for a few minor changes but i bet you could fit most 3rd gen engine mods on a fc.

civic boy 08-30-03 11:15 PM

they make cooler stuff for 3rd gens, as in yes, majorly body mods...they make like 234323 different sleek headlight kits for the 3rd gen...i mean we get the eastbear and in my opinion it isn't that great...other than that the only one i've found is the re one but to use it you have to have the full re hood/bumper ect...

mrb63083 08-30-03 11:17 PM

oops, "civic boy" ^ is me, i'm using a friends computer and didn't realize he was logged in and not me.

1987RX7guy 08-30-03 11:19 PM

The body kit mania is because of one particular movie. If you would have seen vin deisil in an FC we would have about 1,000,398,409 sleek headlight kits.

If you want your headlight kit MAKE YOUR OWN.

That way you can say its a FUCKING ONE OF A KIND KIT that no RICE BOY CAN BUY at pep boys. ;)

The center vent for the AC? What's funny is, new plastic ones sell for $50. If I was around when you were selling them I would have bought one for $70.

mightymouse0x 08-31-03 06:25 PM

still make those CF pieces? how much would u charge for a CF dash, dry CF no resin, icemark

Tim Benton 08-31-03 08:14 PM

No one buys them anyway. Like Mark said, no one wanted to pay 70 for the CF vents, Chuck at Rotary extreme can't build enough interest to build anything. I'd even bet Dave (fc3s.org) has taken a bath after making the hoods for the FC, after many people WANTED them..I wonder how many he's sold and if he's broke even yet on them.

Tim

You couldn't be more wrong. Most of the aero parts everyone has or wants for their FD are out of Japan.

Not even! I still remember how everybody was bitching about the price of the really nice mandrel-bent Checkpoint intake.

I'm not sure about the age difference because there are a lot of really young FD owners, but I totally agree about being cheap. The only reason most of the 2Gen owners on this forum would like to see more custom parts offered is so that they can copy it and try to make it themselves for less.

Yes, and if you look at the demographics, very few of the FD owners have the ability (or desire) to do much work themselves, so the vast majority of the FD aftermarket items are bolt-on, plug & play, sold as kits, or otherwise easy to install. The 2Gen owners tend to have better mechanical skills, and I think the 1Gen owners as a whole are the best in this respect. I'm not saying that it is better to be one way or another, but just that I have noticed this trend. Those who can fabricate their own parts tend to do so rather than spend a lot of money on commercialized shiny bolt-on parts with fancy names.

walken 08-31-03 09:58 PM

There are so many aftermarket parts for FCs, but they never get imported over here. Checkout Japanese auctions, tons of cool stuff and its cheap as hell too. Just gotta import it and pay all the fees which make it expensive.

Zeta-Gouki 09-01-03 04:22 AM

Pfft, try buying shit for a FB. :p
