how can I raise my idle?

I have tried adjusting the BAC as far as it will go and have messed with the rich/lean screw and can't get it up. Also have messed with the s-afc but it hasn't done anything either. I'm going to have the TPS set soon, but is there anything else I can try until I get that done? Thanks.

On the back of the UIM, there is a little brace for the throttle/cruise cables bolted to it. On the throttle cable at this brace, there are two 12mm nuts on a stud. Loosen the one closest to the tb and tighten the one furthest. Set the idle where you want it and tighten the nut closest to the tb back down.

Well I didn't really see which ones you were talking about. I'll see if I can find a pic from the FSM on fc3s.org.

On another note, I have a broken/burnt hose it appears back there. I just wanna know what it goes to. It goes to a metal tube that goes to the drivers side and down into the black round thing(I really never even wondered what that was). Is it a fuel line? I believe it might be.

Well I got the hose off. Definitely a fuel line. Its the one that goes to the primary rail in the back. Glad I caught it or I could end up with a junker :(

That black round thing is your fuel filter.

If you look at the back of the TB, there is a bracket that holds the throttle cable where it attaches to the linkage. Just follow the cable with your hand and you will find the two 12mm nuts. This is where dr0x was telling you to adjust the cable. That was about the only way to set the idle on mine.

Maybe thats my problem. So you say there are 2 12mm nuts on either side of this bracket with the cable in the middle of them? I don't think I have but one. Hmm, wish I had a pic. Or do you mean 2 12mm nuts that face the rear of the car on the linkage I believe?

Oh and it wasn't my fuel filter :p: I was referring to the larger sort of frisbie type black thing that is against the firewall. on the driver's side. Think its just a cover or something.

Throttle Stop screw doing no good? You screwed that in farther?

There should be one on each side of the bracket so that the cable stays tight. You can loosen the inside one and pull it tighter to raise the idle, then tighten the outside one to keep the cable in place.

are you talking about the brake booster?

J-Rat 05-20-03 09:19 PM

I would use the throttle stop screw personally.

dr0x 05-20-03 09:56 PM

The idle stop screw on mine was screwed in all the way so I backed it out and did it this way *shrug*
