How badly have you flooded your FC?

Whats the worst you've ever got?

I mean, how many times did you have to pull the plugs and unflud until you got it started?

many many many times,
but then later on learned that it was because of the spark plug wires. I also have a coolant leak

Hmmm...interesting...what spark plug wire were they? Not 9mm right?

And were they just old?

i've flooded my FC once, all i did was pull the fuel pump fuse, crank it like 10 times put the fuse back in and VROOM

J-Rat 06-02-07 08:22 PM

Ive seen them so flooded that it took almost a tow start of a mile to get it running. Once running it was good to go!

raptor22 06-02-07 08:23 PM

"fludded"?

Spectator 06-02-07 08:27 PM

Yea...I'm french, sorry...

A flooded engine has lost the oil film that seals the combustion chambers. It gets washed away by excess fuel. After removing the plugs and cranking with the throttle open to clear the fuel, one small squirt of oil into each leading plug hole will restore compression.

Doing the same thing over and over unsuccessfully is just a bit silly...

Spectator 06-02-07 08:36 PM

I've heard people unflooding 5 to 8 times before it finally starts...

jonesfromindia 06-02-07 08:48 PM

my starter died so it would just crank, then my spark plugs fowled, then my battery died.

after i cleaned the plugs, and cranked it without the fuse in. covered the whole street in white smoke. and smoked a little for like 5 minutes home.

Never, because I have a kill switch. Best mod possible for a daily-driver. I highly reccomend it.

So at least I'm not alone :bigthumb:.
The only time my car flooded it was because it had been sitting for over a year. I changed the plugs and it started right up again.
