how to attach front metal screen......

any know the best way to attach the metal screen on the front bumper? ive tried just about every type of glue imaginable, but nothing will hold. im thinking about making brackets to attach to the screen, but i dont want to do that until i know there isnt a better way.

The metal screen? There's a metal screen?

Not that its the right way, but that bish won't move.

You have tried cleaning the surface first right?

rivets and large diameter washers???

VacavilleFC 05-24-07 02:04 PM

lol rivets, just use some hot glue to hold it in place then use an epoxy

Honda owners just use bondo (4 everything)

VacavilleFC 05-24-07 02:24 PM

the first time i used bondo i was amazed how fast it sets

This is the front grill of the SpeedSource RX-8 from last year.
They used wires through drilled holes.

You'll never get glue to work. Should be obvious.

I drilled four small holes and used black zip ties.

mine came with the front nose I bought: They had tabs on the inside of the nose to attach screens!!

helghast7 05-25-07 03:21 PM

bondo realy does work well no matter what anyone says about it, i used it to temporarily re-attach my passenger mirror housing, when some jerk ripped it off, until i could get a new one, it did wonders

rotatybeat1287-- why would you not want it? i dont know about you, but i dont like have rocks kicked up into im intercooler.....

dont hate on my gluing skills :). i did hot glue it to tack it down and then used 2 types of epoxy. one was a marine epoxy because thats just wat i had at hand. the other was a 60sec epoxy that didnt hold either. even you you roughen the surface down, glues wont stick as well as you need them to.

right now im really considering drilling holes, but i dont really like the idea. ill conspire some type of tabs to attach and tie the screen to. if that fails, then ill ziptie it.
