how to

ive been runing a race pipe for a while and have had my air pump off for a while and i just found this web site and i was reading about taking the actuators off and the sleeves out and some people taking the whole acv off could i get some info on the stuff like do you plug the holes the sleeves came out off. and also about zip tying the VDI. i know how to take the actuators sleeves off but i dont know about the zip tying the VDI so if anyone can help me.

thanks

well if the air pump is off, then there is no use to have the acv anyways, you can buy a block off place from shops or make your own
if you take the actuators and sleeves off then you have to plug the holes somehow, either by leaving the shafts in or jb weld or whatever you want --might wanna check out pinappleracing.com, many people have been talking about some sleeves they are starting to make.
as far as the vdi, i have never messed w/ it but some people have said they have wired it open. you can see the actuator (kinda like the 6port ones) under the upper intake runners from drivers side. try doing a search and you can find something

the pic compares stock ones w/ pinapples

I don't think you have VDI on your 88

thanks

but now i have to get a new engine. i was screwing around i was doing about 40mph and dropped it into 2nd and took off. but that night it started messing up it wouldnt idle but i had to drive it to work and when i went to lucnh it wouldnt start. It seems to have to low compression but i will start when i put ATF in it but will only stay running if i have my foot on the gas.

good call scott, i didnt check the profile
JD mentioned it so i figured he had it
your ports probably are not opening anyways if you have a race pipe on so its up to you if you wanna take em out or tie them or whatever
