Housing stripped on oil nozzle
 

I ran into some trouble the other day with my 13b 1989 engine. I removed the oil nozzle and replaced them but when I did, by some stupid mistake I put the wrong nozzle into the block instead of the intake manifold. The threads are different and it's basically stripped (!!!!) I don't what to do or if I can do anything.

Some help?

I have a 1988 Engine also... can I use the housing on that? Would that work?

FYI the threads are not different.

When converting to premix the 4 bolts you purchase to plug the injector holes are all the same diameter and pitch, just short length on the rotor housings.

you sure you ****ed it up? maybe there was some junk in there or you overtightened it not realizing how shallow the holes are on the rotor housings.

Just use a Helicoil kit to fix the thread. You probably put the long one in the short hole.

Yeah, all I did was put the longer one in the shorter hole. I thought the threads were different but it was probably because I had to brute force my way to get the 14mm on because of the was that nozzle is set up. All i know is that the bolt will not go back into the housing. Where can I get a Helocoil kit and for how much?

Heck, buy a tap of the correct size and tap out the original hole and see if you can get the injector to thread in. Just FYI....there isn't any pressure on that nozzle coming from the rotor. So I'm thinking if you can get a couple of threads to catch, and put some Locktite on the threads, it should work just fine.

I have some Napa Threadlocker, and there are about 4 or 5 threads towards the bottom for the threads to catch. I'll try it.

premix is ditching those injectoprs, omp lines, and removing the omp and putting 2 stroke oil into your gasoline. its better for the engine.

rotor housing, right? If you do decide to tap it, be careful of the small brass-colored metering boss that's down in there. also be careful of any shavings you might produce- that oil hole is awful small, and you could plug it up easily with just a small shaving...if you're going premix, and can't get the original nozzle (or proper bolt) to thread, find a somewhat smaller bolt and install with some 5-min epoxy or fastweld/ JB weld...

So wouldn't you have to mix the oil and gas every time you filled up?

And what do you do to the omp lines and nozzles, just plug up those holes? with what?

I have no problem pouring it in the tank before I fill up- I've only forgotten once in six plus months to fill & bring along the graduated container I use, and I had a back-up bottle in the car for just such emergencies...you WILL NOT forget once you realize the engine might toast itself...I pre-mix at a 85:1 ratio, a little "thicker" than most people use (100:1), but through four or five fillups now I've noticed better gas mileage with the 85:1 ratio, about .2 to .3 gal. less per 200 miles, which tells me that the 100:1 ratio might not be cutting it for optimum lubrication...Mazdatrix has the bolts you need to plug the holes, should you decide to do so...if you're at the point that you're stripping out the oil nozzles, then you have all the access you need to remove the rest of the lines & pump (you'll need to make or buy a block-off plate for the pump)...LOTS of threads on this subject- use the search function...

I think that premixing sounds like a very good idea. Do you think the cost of oil (I don't remember the last time i bought any how much it was) is a tradeoff for better performance?

it's not really better performance you're after with premix- it's peace of mind (no worrying about the OMP going out), and results in a cleaner engine, internally...and slightly better gas mileage, for me anyway...some of the higher-end premix oils will cost you some bucks, I just buy the big 1 gal generic stuff at Wal-mart (about $6), and it lasts for a couple of months...just make sure anything you get is TCW3 rated, for low ash content and good solubility in fuel...

I looked at Mazdatrix and I cannot find the plugs. By the way, I have 80k on my 88 GTU, would it still be ok to convert?

Do the plugs fit the short and the long?

Two other problems. I have gas in the car already. For the first drive do I need to worry about overheating? Can I drain the gas take somehow?

Also, I need to know how to cover the four holes at the bottom of the engine, where all the four lines meet.

I believe there is a bolt on the bottom of the fuel tank to drain the fuel if you need to.

As for your OMP removal, you need a blockoff plate. You can get one from Mazdatrix.

As to the metal shavings in the housing, I can get a hold of a pressure air tank, should I just clean it out or is it not nessecary?
