Is this housing good?????

So I pulled apart my 87 TII and was wondering if you guys could tell me if this housing is okay to use. Its got some chrome flaking, and some scratches by the exhaust port. I can barely feel the scratches with my fingernail. The smaller spot of flaking feels much worse than the longer spot, but neither one of them look too good. I'm buying a master kit to do the rebuild, and I don't want to spend 1300 bucks just to tear it down again because I rebuilt it with a junk housing. Thanks to whoever chimes in.

EDIT: will upload pictures in a bit

have you seen this video on inspecting housings? http://www.rebuildingrotaryengines.c...Rotor_Housings

also, a lot of housings are kind of a judgment call... they're not so bad that they are unusable, but they are worn enough that they may hurt compression or at least not last as long

Here you can kind of see the damage by the exhaust port.

Close-up of the exhaust port damage. Again, I can barely feel this with my fingernail.

Here is the longer but less severe spot of chrome flaking.

Another view of the flaking.

Hopefully you can get a sense of the size of the areas compared with the nickel. What do you guys think? Thank you for that link arghx, I have not seen that before.

that housing = failed.

I have a question, did you use a cherry picker /w Engine leveler to take the engine out ? Cuz I think Im going to do that soon so Im checking to see which Engine hoist/Cherry picker is the best bang for buck.

ya snag up a another housing. you can use it but its not worth the hastle it will give you in the loong run. it belongs in the scrap pile

too much damage. none of that stuff is that bad separately, but all of it on one housing is too much

save that shit! pair it with another shitty questionable housing and some throw away rotors and build a how long will it last motor!
