Hot start problem
 

On a really hot day, and after driving the car in a spirited fashion for a few minutes... if i park it for 10 minutes and come back to start it back up, it sounds like a 4 cylinder engine trying to run on 2 cylinders, if you know what i mean.

Someone has suggested leaking injectors. I'd just like a few more opinions before i start shelling out money for new injectors.

What have i done? Tested/checked bac, tps, timing, idle speed, cleaned tb, ran marvel mystery oil... etc... etc... etc...

Anyways, s5 t2, open to suggestions. :)

I have pretty much the same problem, but I have to try and restart it about 5 times. If I have to stop for a relatively short period of time I have just learned to set the turbo timer to 10 minutes or so, lock up the car and let it idle. Shitty way around it but until I get it fixed it's easier on the car than trying to start it up over and over again..

you are probably flooding it a little. you say yo are going on a short trip than turning it off and then restarting. that sounds like a slight flooding problem. Next time it doesn't start, try the unflooding procedures , maybe it will help.

also, are you running gas with ethanol in it. that can make it hard to restart on hot days. almost have to let the car completely cool down for an hour or so.

No, its not flooding. If it was, a few good revs would burn off the excess gas.

Now if it's leaky injectors, it would flood constantly until i take it for a spin and free them up a bit.

And its not after a short drive either. i'm talking 15-20 minutes of spirited driving.

i blame mine on my injectors. until i get them cleaned/rebuilt or replaced i just made a fuel pump cutoff switch to help me start it when it decides not to normally start. i replaced my starter and that helped immensley but it still will happen on occasion. i also heard it could be low compression on the motor but i havent gone to that conclusion yet...
