Hot running problems Solved

Well, with my FMIC, the car was running temps around 205-210 from light to light in town and the electric fan was on ALL the time. It was fine on the highway and anything above 20 MPH, but was really giving me fits in town.

After wrapping the downpipe with header tape, sealing up every nook and cranny around the radiator and the E-Fan... I had finally had enough.... I put the stock fan and shroud back on.

Whah-LA! problem solved. The car now runs between 188 and 195 in town depending on how i'm hitting the lights and 185-188 on the highway.

I just whish that damn stock fan didn't make so much friggin noise below 3500 RPM, jeezuz... sounds like a terrex dump truck hauling out!

BUT, i think my car will be running the stock fan and shroud until i find a better method of cooling the motor than a Koyo and a Black Magic 150. That combo worked just fine in town before the FMIC, the rebuild and the port job, but i believe the FMIC to be the biggest culprit.

Sooo, what are you other FMIC guys doing about cooling the car??? Lookinf for more ideas here. Was thinking about running Evans coolant, but have heard a lot of weirdness about it. Any Comments??

Thank you - I've been looking for a good excuse to keep my TMIC.

I envy the big power mods, but plan to stay below 10PSI. (well maybe 11)

The 7 is my daily driver, and maintenance cost is a big deal.

cant beat the clutch fan for cooling!

I had the same problem when i owned my rx2, soon as i put a huge front mount on it blocked off all air flow to the radiator and i was running hot!

Now that i have my FC, with a front mount and the clutch fan im running temps of 180 in traffic!
