hot hot hot hot, oh and hot

Yes, my car runs hot :( i need to be cooling it down.

Today on my way to work, it was maby 70-75 and my car ran ab out 85-87* C (1850-189*F)

On my way home i saw 91-94*C most of the time (195-202*F) and the one time i went into just a bit of boost, maby 6-7lbs i hit 206*F with it about 85-90*F outside

My car has a brand spanking new 185* t-stat, Koyo rad with about 1k miles on it, stock mech fan and a fmic. The fmic is mounted under the bumper skin where the 'bumper' went and takes about 1/2 open area in the bumper. There is a good foot foot and a half between the back of the fmic and the rad. I have the undertray in bla bla.

Are these temp's reasonable? Is there something i can do to cool them down? THe oil cooler is un-obstructed, i was thinking maby pulling it and cleaning it/degreasing it on the outside to allow it to function more efficiently. These temp's scare me, i am just now getting to drive the car every day and i dont want to worry about killing it every night :(

Warm warm warm, this is the car idling/cooling down, fired it up 10min after i got home for the pic, still warm. About 1min after that pic it droped to 83, then leveld off at 85

I would recommend to get upper radiator paneling or one of the FC3S panels.

Also get a dual alternator pulley. I notice INSANE slipping and high temps due to the waterpump not turning as much as it shoudl have.

I think Higgi sells pulleys.

CrackHeadMel 06-04-05 05:38 PM

Upper rad pannel ay, ok ill order that right when im done posting, and do you have a link for the dual alt pully, ill search then pm higgy bout now and try to find it. Ty for the input.

Jacob, I'm in the same boat you are.

The weather is pretty hot here right now, 30C (86F).
My coolant temps are pretty much always around (90-95C) 195-203F.

This seems to be a problem with a lot of FMIC cars. The only real way to solve it, is to seal off all the areas around your FMIC and rad to ensure that all the air flows through it, and not around it. You could also cut a hole in your bumper for more airflow.

I also run 90% water in the summer, with a bottle of Water Wetter.

Digi7ech 06-04-05 10:37 PM

yeah here in az I run majority water and have a koyo/stock fan/all rad panels/ and any time I go into boost during the day I'll start to creep up in temps.

100-110 outside sucks!

Stanello 06-04-05 11:08 PM

Check and see if your clutch fan is working correctly.

CrackHeadMel 06-04-05 11:43 PM

Im assuming the clutch fan is workin fine, idle temps are reasonable, its the underpower temps that are th eissue

-Jacob

Stanello 06-04-05 11:45 PM

Do you still have your undertray belly pan thingy on? I can't really tell in the pics.

iceblue 06-04-05 11:47 PM

Umm thows temps are about right on for a T and thows ambient temps. All I can say is if your runing a water pump dull belt it.

CrackHeadMel 06-04-05 11:49 PM

Yeah im running the underbelly pan, and i ordered a dual alt puly tonight

-Jacob

bcty 06-04-05 11:49 PM

she said yes
ya those temps r fine
id keep an eye on it if it was around 99C area 100C
then id back off and let er cool down

hondahater 06-04-05 11:55 PM

I'm at about 98 to 100*f here in louisiana and temps in the car where getting crazy so I put on the underbelly tray (witch I read that you have) and also got a radiator cover or whatever you call it from the guy here on this forum for about 40 bucks and man did it help out. durring cruze is wher you will see the most gains as far as oil temps but with water temps I see nother but quarter of the way up the guage on stock gauge and koyo radiator. Before I was getting almost halfway up the gauge.

Thows = those

dull MUST mean DOUBLE.

I dont know, deciphering iceblue's spelling is getting to be a full time job.

hondahater 06-05-05 07:37 AM

nice!!! A big fire, ticky torches, beach, and beer!!! it was a good night :)

my night was sort of like that in a more I'm a parent type way, lol. We just got one of those 12'x36" pools and we where just floating in that thing drinking carona, pretending like we where still in Jamaica

powrdby13B 06-05-05 01:24 PM

i think reted said that you run most efficient at 210 F... and i spose you should be fine as long as your coolant doesn't boil over :)
speaking of, what are you using for coolant?

Yes the fire kicked ass. I burned a 10x30x3.5 dock, 2 brush piles, 6 pallets, and every downed tree / random log i could find. the fire is still going right now as a mater of fact, 21 hours later :D Much smaller though =/

Im using about a 50 50 mix of a random coolent and water. Im using cheapy coolent becuasei had waterpump issues a few months ago (pulled it 4 times in one week) and wasnt going to buy good coolent every time

No ones paying you. So have fun, may help the others. But you seem to have a hard time staying on topic.

210 may be best I dunno for sure, ReTed would be someone who knows. But normal condition temps are 180 to 200
