It stays at that rpm all the time or just on start up?

well mine use to stay like that all the time- new to rotarys, since last june- and so it turns out my motor was going and believe it, it went! Coolant seal went out :(

but thats just from my experience- any one else?

also, does stay like that all the time? like does it go down after 15 mins or do you shut the car off?

Ummm wait til the engine gets warm and see what happens. There was this trashie ass red Rx7 at a used car dealership. It started up and it hit about that rpm range and later it started to die down because it was getting warm.

I'm not sure but check your thermowax or you should check your BAV, BAC, IDK know it is one of those sensors.lol

I had an issue with the thermowax not expanding and pushing the fast idle arm down. Look in the back of the throttle body and see what it's doing, if you can push it down with a screwdriver and the idle drops to where it's supposed to be that's your problem. Replace the thermowax.
