how did you fix your horn? did you pull out the CPU? (remember Im talking about the CPU not the CPU)

What?

andresj 03-28-08 01:44 PM

m1northreat is my brother. he just took off the quick release and unplugged the wire. the quick release wire was kind of burnt. the car was idling and evreything just fine before that damn horn was unplugged.

well uhhh 03-28-08 01:47 PM

i think what polito meant was the CPU not ECU

andresj 03-28-08 01:48 PM

theres no ecu in the car

well uhhh 03-28-08 01:53 PM

^ so it doesn't run then? does it have stand alone? i dont think the horn has any direct relationship with running the engine but if it did short and is burnt up then it could have melted other wires and caused a short.

andresj 03-28-08 01:54 PM

its carb

andresj 03-28-08 05:15 PM

the horn runs to the cpu?

DavidHolmesIII 03-28-08 05:32 PM

cpu controls horn.

polito Racing 03-28-08 06:47 PM

ok man. I need to know what quick release did you unplug? because i have no idea of what you are talking about. im thinking you disconected a vaccum line or something when trying to stop the horn. I was looking at the wiring diagrams on the hayes manual earlier and i didnt really see how could the horn affect the cars idle. the other thing make sure all fuses are ok, and i guess check your alternator and make sure you didnt fry it. now, tell me more about the carburator on your FC. why? ok something else i need you to tell me exactly what you did because you are making absolutely no sense on what you told me on the pm. be more detailed where is that quick release you are talking about located, what cables are burnt. If you dont have an ECU how are you controlling the coils. pics would also help so i can visualize the stuff. what year is your car? please tell me its not a first gen. Right?

andresj 03-28-08 08:21 PM

87 na. its an NRG quick release hub for the steering wheel. wat i disconnected was not a vacume line. u know the little black wire that sticks out of the steering column? its the wire that when grounded it makes your horn go off. thats what i disconnected. also its not just idle, even though it wont hold idle it also has almost no power and the car sounds like crap now. its basically not running correctly. ill get pics of the wire i disconnected and everything else. oo and also u ask about why a carb. its a weber side draft carb

polito Racing 03-28-08 09:12 PM

ok for what you are saying I dont see any reasons that it would affect the function of your engine. I would say check for compression first and we will go from there. you know how rotary engines are!!!! good luck and keep me posted to see if i can help.

andresj 03-28-08 10:04 PM

will do. its dark now so ill have to wait till tomorrow. thnx
