Why do you need them? Did you get rid of your hood prop?

MrDirt 10-31-05 09:47 AM

Or are you talking about the hatch?

WhoDiddy6 10-31-05 09:58 AM

hood prop. tryin to clean it up a tad with the swap i'm doing.

No FC came with hood struts.

Fairly easy thing to add though. Probably just use the FD parts since they will be approximately correct, and just add a little angle-iron bracked on the inner fender and hood.

Sounds like a good idea, actaully.

i know they didn't come with any, but thought it would be nice to add on... has anyone developed these b4?

never seen one... However... should be easy enough.. just make sure if you use the FD rods that you have an Aluminum, fiberglass or CF hood.. the steel ones will most likely be too heavy.

Else... Just look for the cheapest replacement struts from any other car... even FC hatch struts will work (the hatch is WAY heavier than the hood) BUT.... i'd suggest making sure that they are the type that have no "Lift" on them when they are shut.....

it's the tII hood. so it's fine. will check into the FD rods. thx fellas.

No, someone's developed them somewhere. I've seen them before specifcally for an FC, it was a major company as well I just don't remember where...

Hood struts are awesome. Super-easy bonnet opening and no prop in the way when working. My HB Comso had torsion bars to do the same thing and I've often thought about adding gas struts to the hood. Once you had them you miss them! :)

ive been talking about doing the same thing in my fc ,, the only thing thats holding me back is time a little money and the bungs you mount the strut to.

WhoDiddy6 11-01-05 08:44 PM

no foreign countries offer these?

I don't think anyone understands what you're asking. Lots of car all over the world had gas struts for the bonnet, but not the FC.

aderson34 11-06-05 04:18 PM

so will the steel hood be to heavy?

jono20 11-06-05 04:37 PM

like was said above, the hatch is pretty frigggin heavy, heavier than the hood id say. if you used the hatch struts it might work

Those look great! Have you shipped to the US?

I just bought a new cat, catback, clutch, and transmission doodads, so spending more on the FC will not go over well with the wife for the near future - but I will definitely want a set for my vert!

My5ABaby 07-09-08 01:11 PM

Anyone have better pictures of the hood dampers?

joshrulz 10-06-08 02:30 AM

if anyone wants to email me about the kits i make - nrodpw@internode.on.net
