Hollow out cats or no?
 

How much performance is gained from hollowing a cat, esp. a clogged one?
How much louder is it?
Is it worth it?
For emissions i need to get a new cat so i'll have my friend weld it in, then after testing i will take the old one, hollow it out, and reinstall it.
Does it sound like a good idea?

i've got a new main cat and a hollowed out pre-cat.

trust me, don't hollow it out. it will sound like your exhaust is running through a coffee can. it kind of sounds like you have an exhaust leak at low rpm's and probably creates turbulence.

should i just go high-flow instead?

anyway, seriously now, Im going to replace mine with a presilencer, as soon as I can get it welded.

if u want a hollowed out cat I have both front cats that are hollowed out I will sell u them both for 35.00 shipped this way u can try them if u like them u can have them if u dont atleast u did not ruin yours again these are the fron tow not the main cat.

you guys and your loudness, who cares hw loud?? is there actually some performance gain or just a cheap way to ruin my emissions?

My vert had a clogged cat and I gutted it, sounded just fine. I got better gas mileage too, true story.

sounds good, horsepower gains yes, who cares about emissions if u are in a no emissions state!!

mine clogged up in my 88se when i drove like 200 miles. i noticed i was having to downshift more and wasnt picking up as fast. i pulled it out and beat all the shit out of it, ran much better, more power and gas milage. BTW mine got a lil louder but sounded good. not like a coffee can on mine. bet ehh i would do it..:D

yeah, i guess im just gonna go ahead and gut it, i dont have the precats, and if i dont like it too much, i can just weld the magnaflow high flow back in that im getting on ebay for like 50 bucks.
