hmm, whats this jumper wire do???

Hey i found a jumper wire in a plug that comes off the trailing coil, its black and blue, can be found in between the coil and firewall. Is this something like the idle set jumper but different? It sure doesnt look like it should be there...

YES, ME!!
On ther car that I am building (HALTECH, T66, etc.), I coouldn't get it started. Traced the starting problem to a connector with no relay. I checked out 2 harnesses from other cars, one had a relay, the other had a blue connector with a black jumper wire. Plugged the one w/the jumper in the connector and the car started right up. I wonder what the difference is between the jumper and the relay?

If you have a theft deterrent control unit there is a relay there(factory). If there is no theft deterent control unit the relay is left out and the jumper you see is in place. The jumper is required. It provides a path to the starter motor from the key. See the factory manual, turbo or n/a, wiring diagram A-2. Its item A-04, starter cut relay. Essential for flight.
