hks tt help on 87 t2 part 2
okay so I connected the e brake wire, and the tach wire, and just needed to connect the speedo wire....well I thought I knew which wire it was - green with red stripe but after hooking it up I couldn't get my speed on the turbo timer, logically I assume first I have the wrong wire(which sucks because I taped the 2 wires together all the way down and basically made everything pretty) I have a bad connection, or I'm just an idiot and can't work a turbo timer (hey the instructions were in japanese :o: ) just looking for confirmation of the speedo wire
|
The FC's speedo is mechanical, not electronic. AFAIK there is no speed input to the ECU. You might get it to work with the speed signal to the cruise control, but I wouldn’t put money on it.

Yup, I have an HKS TT installed too, but no speedometer reading, I don't think it would be worth the trouble to try and jury rig a system for it either. BUT, if you figure it out, post how you did it :D It'd make for an interesting read...

wont work. Its designed to work for a system like the FD with an electronic speed sensor.
|
well I'm dissapointed but happy because I was rationalizing with myself why I shouldn't take all teh wiring apart and untape everything so its ok thanks for the replies guys :) now does anyone have any instructions on the turbo timer in english? I was flipping through the turbo timer and saw my rpms but after about 10 seconds it goes to my peak rpm screen
|
I found some crappy instructions in english, and Im still having the same problem, but the instructions say to hook it up to the cruise control unit. green/red wire. There must be an electric speed sensor for the cruise, right?
|
Not sure about the RX7, but my conquest has a mechanical gauge and it still has a VSS. My HKS TT works fine and displays speed on that car, maybe I'll hook it up to the rx7 some year..

Back from the dead :)
hahahahah!!! I had fun with my FSM and went for the G/R wire. I unhooked the plug for the cruise control harness down by the drivers side kickpanel. cut the G/R wire, soldered it in, and bam! I have a speedo reading. BWHAHAHA!!! Now I can use all those useless timer functions. Too bad I just cracked my second differential mount and my rear shocks are blown lol. |
I used the harness for mine, and if I lift my TT above the key ignition switch the TT dies. Odd :D

I never found my e-brake wire. I took apart the e-brake handle and stuff, is there an easier place to find it? Like maybe under the dash or something?

Ya it lights up. I took apart the damn plastic piece around the e-brake and never even got it to snap back together right  Would be nice if I got the feature to work though. Any help would be great. TIA.

I found *a* wire coming off the ebrake. Didnt see any others in the area (its under that center black piece where the mirrior switch is, under carpet) so I tied into that.
