HKS Titanium Racing Muffler Exhaust

Has anyone ever bought one of the hks titanium racing exhausts and how does it compare against the Apexi Gt Spec exhaust?

dr0x 08-10-03 02:40 AM

Its bigger, made of better material, and costs three times as much.

I have the TeamFC3S Carbon Ti catback that uses the HKS Carbon Ti muffler and the muffler is only 9 pounds

here is some pics and videos

how the #%(* does carbon fiber hold up to exhaust gas and heat?

Davidov 08-10-03 09:52 PM

It's just wrapped in carbon fiber from what I understand. And carbon fiber is VERY heat resistant.

I've seen carbon fiber brake rotors, and those get pretty damn hot....just for comparison's sake.

They also make carbon fiber driveshafts. Carbon fiber can actually be very strong. Most new Ferraris and Lamborghinis as well as some higher-end porches have carbon fiber body panels.

but has anyone actually bought the true hks ti racing exhaust besides the carbon fiber version?

I am interested in reading about it. Do you have a link or something for it?

I assume it is a full turbo back large diameter exhaust?

Barwick 08-11-03 02:11 PM

where can you get specs on the FULL Turbo-back titanium exhaust? I mean titanium the whole way through. Someone said an Integra exhaust made fully of titanium was like 9 lbs.

From what I have read titanuim should not be used for a rotary car. The material is not intended for 1600 degrees constantly pounding at it. I guess a muffler is ok but I wouldn't spend that kind of money only to have it get messed up.

anything would hold up, just dont trust most american brand mufflers..

ManGaZeRo 08-11-03 09:09 PM

Thats why it's all bout HKS hahah

Read the little box. :)

BLUE TII 08-11-03 11:19 PM

Right, they mean Ti shouldn't be substituted for stainless in rotary turbo manifold construction.

Post turbo it is fine, how long do the stock and aftermarket mild steel pieces last... Ti is better for heat than mild steel.

So where is the info on this HKS exhaust? :)

ManGaZeRo 08-12-03 03:24 AM

well u could always try the offical hks site www.hksusa.com

BLUE TII 08-13-03 12:46 AM

Hmm, it doesn't outright say it is a turbo back, BUT since it says "for offroad use only" and it costs $1600 one could assume it is 102mm turbo back!

4" turbo back exhaust for the FC. I feel the need to upgrade from my puny 3 1/2" turbo back now...

Thanks for posting that link
