HKS PFC F-CON Advice needed
 

I have a 90' Turbo II with gutted cats, intake, 720cc injectors waiting to go in, BNR stage 4 turbo, and a F-con. Does anyone have any input on how this will run. I want 1200cc injectors but am not sure if the F-con can control them. I bought it used and don't have a manual. I don't want to lean out and kill a motor. I am going to build a turbo back when I am sure I won't lean out. Any input is apppreciated in advance.

The F-CON cannot control bigger fuel injectors.&nbsp It won't run.

I had read part of the F-Con manual. It states that it will input a longer duration for stock injectors and shorter duration for upgrated injectors. So, it does seem to work on larger injectors. If you have any questions, call HKS directly. They do have a good customer service line.

The fcon I know is supposed to be able to use larger injectors. JM seven is right. I guess I will call HKS. Thanks JMseven.

Straight off the HKS USA website...

"The HKS PFC F-CON is a plug-in fuel management system designed to supplement and refine the OEM fuel curve in order to maintain a proper air / fuel mixture when increasing boost pressure in turbocharged applications. To achieve maximum safe power, the PFC F-CON optimizes the factory injector pulse width signal by recalibrating information obtained by both the PFC F-CON absolute pressure sensor and the OEM engine control unit (ECU). Each unit is application specific and includes a preprogrammed ROM for particular performance stage. A Fuel Cut Defencer (FCD) is also included in certain PFC F-CON kits to override the factory fuel cutoff. The PFC F-CON offers simplistic integration via a plug-in vehicle specific wiring harness and a compact pressure sensor. The PFC F-CON is programmed with an interchangeable ROM for each specific vehicle application. If additional tuning of the PFC F-CON is need, fine-tune adjustments can be performed via the plug-in HKS Graphic Control Computer (GCC)."

It mentioned nothing about larger fuel injectors.&nbsp Each ROM is programmed for either the stock turbo or their HKS Sport turbo upgrade.&nbsp Both ROMs assumes stock fuel injectors are being used.&nbsp To have a special ROM programmed for different sized fuel injectors, you need to bug HKS for this.&nbsp The HKS PFC F-CON does have capacity to adjust general AFR richness with a single internal pot, but this is normally at default set to "0" - you cannot adjust DOWN, therefore, you cannot compensate for larger fuel injectors.

Go for it - try it.&nbsp I bet the engine runs too rich.&nbsp Trying to run staggered fuel injectors is next to impossible, as the internal ROM is programmed for four identically sized fuel injectors.&nbsp Do you have the $500 GCC to adjust the fuel curve?&nbsp This is about the only way you can get it to work.

Hey Dustin, turn the boost up to 25 or 30 to compensate for the richness! Just kidding... lol Put the FCon in w/ the stock injectors, then put an AIC on it, retard the timing then you are ready to tune in the injectors!
