High idle on a TII

Im looking at buying an 87 TII with 78k miles. The only problem I can find with the car is that it has a high idle around 1200 when warm. The only modifications to the car were RB full exhaust with resonators(no cats), disconnected boost sensor, and romoved air pump. Im thinking these mods could require the cars idle to need to be reset. The car runs perefect other than that. Also a quick note how does 4700 sound for that car and the mileage in almost mint condition.
THX,
Drew

the tps is probably mis-adjusted.

Disconnected boost sensor????

Isnt that a BAD thing...... :)

I second the "dissconnected boost sensor??" I know the ecu defaults to some number when it doesn't recieve a sensor input so it is in some safe mode.

I wish my 2 TII's idled that low. Both of mine have a port job, exhaust and intake. They don't like to idle any lower.

The price sounds like it is in the ball park from your description. I see that you are in the Buffalo area. Check to see if it was ever driven in the winter. I grew up near Rochester. The winters (ie salt) kills cars up there.

for the past ten years it has been owned by two mechanics neither of them drove the car in the winter, and the last guy(who im buying from) always garaged the car. I think he said that because the exhaust creates more boost that the ECU would open the wastegate rather than alowing the car to overboost a few tenths of a psi. I was under the impression that the stock turbo systems WG was activated by vacuum pressure and not the ecu and that the ecu would retard the timming when it sensed any pressure above stock.

But do you guys think this could be a serious problem or just something small. Like I said when i drove the car it felt like new, boost around 3200 (felt it but not as strong as most cars with turbos i have driven, which i think is normal) and no hesitation, no smoke at all, good cold start, good worm start, no leaks whatsoever, etc.

The ecu controls the twin scrol solinoid I think.

He basicly went to cheap way- instead of getting a FCD (fuel cut defender)- he unpluged the sensor that would cause it.

The price seems right.
Im thinking of selling my 66k origonal miles, good conidtion (last owner abused the paint)- and stock- asking $4k.

that sound about right, thx for the help
