High Idle High Oil Pressure

At idle my 88 GXL is at 1600-1800 rpms (at normal operating temperature) and the oil pressure is around 65psi (according to stock oil pressure, I know its not reliable but coupled with high rpm and its never had this problem before). Recently I had my master brake cylinder replaced and a leaking coolant hose replaced. Any Ideas.
Thank You,
Alex

for the idle, check for vacuum leaks...

argh! i hate this. i have it too. same year same model. idels around 1000-1500 RPM when warm. i adjusted the throttle, nothing. checked for vac. leaks, nothing.

i must have missed a leak somewhere. i'm NOT useing carb cleaner to check for leaks. i only use water. is water good enough?

sorry for the hijacking of the thread kapono, but we have the same prob...:D

cold start cam? ...where and how would i go about "unstucking it"?

Aaron Cake 10-23-03 03:32 PM

It's at the back of the throttle body. You can follow the small coolant lines that lead to it, or locate it in the Haynes/factory manual. Unsticking generally just involves a cleanup.

thermowax?

Sir Rupert Hobo 10-23-03 03:35 PM

thanks aaron

Thermowax is a different thing....Grab the manual and look at a diagram of the rear of the throttle body.
