High HC for smog?

In the FAQ it says a "run-in converter" what does that mean exactly???? I still need to time the motor(its running advanced right now). The cat is new. Its good on CO-low and NOx-low, yet the HC levels are HIGH! Thats the thing, new cat and high levels shiznit... just changed the oil like yesterday 1-2-07 and smogged today 1-3-07. Plugs just a month old. Ideas??
Thanks..

i just passed emissions testing here, how long did you let your rx-7 warm up. i drove the piss outta mine to really warm up the converter, it helped out alot. how about new plug wires?

Run 1 gallon of Alcohol with 5 Gallons of fuel, Dont drive it hard with this mix. You will pass, after that full it up with Super untill that tank is gone.

Or

a funny trick i learned is, get a gasket that is smaller than your exhaust ( the inner diam ) and place it on the back side of the Cat. This will increase the back pressure and thus make the exhaust HOTTER. This will help burn the extra HC off.

did you fail at idle or at the 2500RPM test?

as izzy said did you warm up the car fully before testing?

don't follow any of the tricks for passing emissions, it is best to try and find and fix the problem first, if you rely on tricks to pass emissions you can bet your car isn't running right and is probably losing power and as a result your new cat will be short lived.

See if your OMP is Stuck.

I do agree, Find the problem, Fix if possible. Then if all eles fails do the tricks.

Also

You do have a Air Pump Right?
Is there a Air Line Hooked up to the new cat?
Have you checked the ACV, this is a important, It directs the fresh air to the Exhaust and Cat

I don't have the run back line into the cat its plugged off, I passed 2 years ago with the same thing but I had a OEM cat on it. I have the timing at 13 BTDC so I need to get it 20 ATDC. The paperwork says I failed the timing test and the HC levels it didn't describe what else. I am going to change the timing and check it out. As for running it I ran it all morning to get that f'er warmed up thats my first tip to anyone too. All other smog equip is on it pump, ACV, so I think the advanced timing is causing it not to run that hot, so its not burning as hot(cat). We'll see, thanks for the input I will try the timing and keep what you added in mind. A trick might be FUN to try just to say "California I am your new Governer"... to be con't...

I just read it, it failed the 15 and 25 mph test everthing else is good. The CO and NO is way down=good, the HC is two times itself=bad. Thanks.
