HIDs. Yes.

Last month I ordered a HID kit from Icemark, I just installed them this weekend, and they pretty much rock.

Before:

During:

After:

The before and afters were taken on the same setting, but at different distances, I think the point still gets across though.

They took about 3 hours to install. If you can afford the upgrade, do it.

ColdSeven 09-18-06 10:56 AM

how much is the upgrade?

snowball 09-18-06 10:57 AM

what bulb did you use 8k?

JSmith0101 09-18-06 11:07 AM

The lights, ballasts, and all that stuff cost $340, the sealed beam replacement housings cost $40 (for the pair). So, just south 0f $400.

Yes, these are the 8000k, I was going to use 10000k, but at the last minute I decided to change my order, luckily mark was able to change it before he sent it out.

How hard was it to install?

DarkKnightFC 09-18-06 11:15 AM

Jesus thats really bright. There are a lot of things I need before those but they are certainly on the list.

Install was a breeze, it just took some time. I was going to take pics, but decided against it last minute. All the bracketry and stuff comes with the kit, and as we all know, there are plenty of little holes for running bolts and stuff like that.

Icemark's got some good tips on installing them, especially for powering them.

cool_as_crap 09-18-06 11:35 AM

good shit, i have the same kit, but with 10000k.

stevie1020 09-18-06 11:37 AM

Like I said, I changed from those to the 8000k, just a little too purple.

Terrh 09-18-06 12:25 PM

pretty nice. Cutoff seems reasonable. I think you have them aimed a little too high though :)

I adjusted it post picture-taking.

bacek 09-18-06 02:50 PM

looks so nice

MaczPayne 09-18-06 07:24 PM

I hope Icemark has some more kits left when I have the money to buy them, haha. This has been on my to-do list for so long.

I think they look great as well, but I feel its more of a mod for S4's cause HID's on an S5 w/ the fog lamps wouldn't look great unless you went with a bright yellow bulb in there if you can.

snowball 09-18-06 09:04 PM

FMIC deletes the S5 fog lamps, not to mention who would want yellow lights. that makes no sense at all to me. i can see yellow fogs thats normal.

JSmith0101 09-19-06 01:37 PM

I'll be geting some small HID projector fogs next summer, I think, and figure out the circuit so I can have them turn on and off with the car.

sciff5 09-19-06 03:58 PM

Its deff an improvement over stock but those HIDs seem to put off quite a bit of glare.

MaczPayne 09-19-06 06:38 PM

Wotnartd, you should get some driving pictures of these HID's.

I really don't think the glare is bad when you're are driving in say, the mountains at night.

JSmith0101 09-19-06 08:31 PM

Glare? The few hours I've put on these bulbs at night are telling me glare is very minimal, just crisp clean light. There is something about seeing that blueish tint on a speed limit sign 300 feet away. :)

Next time I go out at night, I'll bring my digicam.

MaczPayne, I'll PM you the results, too, just in case you happen to not see the thread.

LAN 09-19-06 08:47 PM

I have a front shot. It looks very blinding and lots of glare on camera, but it's really not in person. I drive alot in the backroads so the HIDs are really great.

Anyone wants to see the Font shot? :) Might burn your eyes.
