HELP - She sat for 2 mo's and wont start
Just as I started a brake swap, I started traveling for work. Unfortunately, this means she sat for the last 2 mo's w/o being started, and now has no compression. She ran fine when I parked her. Any suggestions.

how do you know its lacking compression?
|
Solenoid engages and starter free-wheels. One and only one cause.

not neccesairly. Could be a busted-ass starter. The only way to know for sure is to do a compression check. Both rotors don't just die. there would be some compression at least in one of them.
Besides, 2 months is nothing. I had rx7 parked for several years that started up like it was nothing. Mind you, the smoke was ... neighbourhood-filling :D |
If the starter freewheels. That could be a bad solenoid.
If the motor does the same, then you have no compression. It would be making a wowowowowow sound when cranking instead of a popopopopop sound. If you're not getting either of these, then your engine isn't cranking. BTW: These sounds are from first hand experience with a rotary that got fried from lacking pre-ix after making the decision to go pre-mix. Not my car either! I chewed the guy out when I found out what he'd done. |
