Help Pease, Engine Trouble

I woke this moring and drove to school, my car seemed to lag at 6000rpm and refused to go over 7000. Now When i try to accel., even from a standing start the car chops up the pwer band, and doesn't even pull over 6000, But if i easily push the throttle in it'll make it up to 6000rpm but will not go over.Could my fuel pump or something gone bad? Please help me, I have no clue and this is my daily driver

thanks

hmmmm

when was this car's last full tune up? plugs, wires, fuel filter etc?

EDIT: will the car free rev smoothly? or does it have choppy acceleration even then?

check the fuel strainer, might be clogged up. Or you might have a crack in one of your vacuum lines, check them. Also you can adjust the pressure, i noticed that will sometimes effect how high you can rev.

Mine did the same thing one time and it ended up being that some sort of animal had chewed through the wires at the bottom front of my engine. I can not think what the part is called at this time but if you trace the wire that run down the front of the engine from the plug just behind the altinator. It is some kind of oil pump but like I said I can not think of the name of it right now.

Oil metering pump? That's a pretty crappy thing to have an animal chew through your OMP lines...

no the variable resistor, its right next to the boost sensor.

sorry guys, I have a NA engine. I have changed the plugs about 3k miles ago. So check the vac lines, fuel filter/straner, and injectors?

Edit- I have put a header on my car, would the o2 sensor only on one exhaust piplets cause a pronlem. It didn't before butthe guy at the Mazda Dealership said it would?
