help! oil pressure sending unit

i believe my oil pressure sending unit is leaking. it's the brass thing next to the oil filter and spark plugs. it's got a wire connected to it and it leaked on everything under it. my oil gauge reads about 15 psi when idle.

1. is this hard to change? (write-up? if so)
2. what's under it that the unit leaked on? (i think it's a heater hose and a wire i don't know what)
3. is there anything important that could have been damaged from this?

thanks all.

Yes, they often leak.

Changing them is as simple as disconnecting the harness, unscrewing it with a 14MM wrench, putting sealant on the threads of the new and then assembly is reverse of removal.

The leak may also be coming from the oil filter pedestal o-rings. Clean the area with brake cleaner then start the engine and observe where the leak may be coming from.

You should fix it because the oil will eat away at the heater hose below, causing failure at the most inconvenient time.

so it's just the heater hose right? i'm pretty sure it's saturated to shit already. what will fail if this happens? (btw i think it's already causing problems)

If the heater hose fails, the engine coolant will drain out of the broken hose and you'll be stuck at the side of the road.

If you cannot remember the last time this hose has been replaced, replace it now.
