HELP newbie cant get his car started

Was up rotorheads? i gotta 5 speed 88 rx7 convertible.while messing with the intake tube i snapped the crank angles sensor.which according to a local mechanic fryed my ecu.So after a trip to the junk yard i got the crank angle sensors {both} replaced {yeah i put them in right} I managed to get a 88 rx7 convertible ecu but after installing it the thing will just sit there and crank all day! the serial number matches except the two fine print little digits at the end.did i get a bad ecu? did i get a automatic convertible ecu? does it matter? or mabey im missing fuel or spark? any help would be greatly welcomed since this is my daily driver!

Did you make sure that you had the shaft lined up with the yellow mark on the pulley with the timing pin? It's a small little pointy piece of metal that sticks out near the shaft pulley. If you did that, did you also make sure that the teeth on the crank angle sensor were aligned properly as well for timing?

My guess would be you set up the timing incorrectly before I'd jump onto thinking your ECU is bad.

Do you know if you have spark, if not just check.

....uh naw im inexperienced so no i didnt even know that it matters, i know that sounds dumb but...well i didnt check for spark either.so the crank angle sensor.im a lil confused.aint that those 2 lil wires that snap into the engine harness by the altinator?

well any way will my suspected 88 automatic vert ecu work with my 88 manuel ecu?

The ECU shouldn't be any different from my knowledge in convertibles... I would prefer someone who is sure to back me up on that though, or prove me wrong.

...Go to www.iluvmyrx7.com, pull up the service manual, look at the info on the crank angle sensor & timing.

and no, the crank angle sensor is not just 2 wires...

Here's a pic of what it looks like:

There is a convex notch in the silver part of the metal right near the gear teeth at the bottom of it. On the gear teeth, there is a slightly circular indentation. The notch and indentation should be aligned when installing the sensor in. Make sure though that the crank is aligned properly as well. A yellow mark should be on your crank pulley, which should be matched up with the timing pin. This is all necessary to ensure proper timing.

And checking for spark would be a great idea as well as TIISleeper suggested,
