Help me Please! My car won't start!
 

Hey guys thanks for helping me out!

Okay so heres the story...

Day 1
So I get home late and night and i notice that my coolant is spilling out from the car. I also notice my Tempurature Gauge was getting a little high. By the time i turn off my car the temp was at just about half. I went home to sleep figuring i can find out what it is in the morning.

Day 2
So i go under the car and find the leak. But before i find the leak, I broke the vaccum line that goes from the Upper Intake manifold to the Dashpot (The line had a small cylinder on the line). The leak was from the Spark Plug Side Engine to the Firewall Heater Hose. I replaced it and flushed my Cooling System. Then tried to start the car, It would not start.... It cranks and give bumps but it will not start.

So Far...
I've tried to Jump the battery but failed
I've tried to Unflood the engine then tried to start it but failed (Nothing came out of the Spark Plug Hole)
I put pre-mix in the current tank

What I think is the problem...
1. Blown engine from too much heat (Although I'm not sure that half temp on an S4 is enough to blow a motor)
2. The Vaccum line that i broke which connects to the UIM to the what looks like Dashpot.
3. The Spark Plugs are Damaged/Fowled from the coolant that leaked (Although I'm not sure if the Spark Plugs can get fowled from the outside)

From the information you provided i am leaning toward that vacuum line you knocked off is causing your car not to start have it fixed and try starting it again.

Hmm.. yea thats kinda what i've been looking torwards also but the dashspot is only in affect on decel right? or is startup different?

could the car start without a dashpot?

Apparrently not.. The small cylinder thing you describe... could that be a check valve? Flip it around and see if that works...

There is no vacuum line to the dashpot. You are probably referring to the vacuum line with one-way valve that connects to the water thermovalve (aka, thermowax) located at the top rear of the throttle body. Get the free factory service manual from one of the links in the 2nd gen FAQ at the top of this section to see what I'm referring to.

In any case, an inoperative dashpot would not cause a no-start condition. It's function is specifically to slow the return of the throttle linkage when you let off on the accelerator. Replace the vacuum line if you haven't done so already. Your no-start condition may or may not be related to this line, but you should replace it anyway or the engine will at a minimum run rough.

Mmmm.. Alrighty, but I'm having a hard time finding that line because there is a cylinder shaped object that is part of the line and looks like the line is running dirrectly through the cylinder shaped object. Oh and the device that the vaccum line is disconnected from seems to control first top set of throttles in the throttle body (The ones that are always open untill the device is triggered). This device is located in the front of the UIM, left of the TPS screw but before the end of the black plastic intake.

I think I found what the device is, its the double throttle diaphram. But still don't know if that would cause a no start situation.

If you have an s4 you will need to remove the intercooler, to see where the line goes. You have missing vacuum lines and its cold u can forget getting it to start. But seening your orange county, does your tach needle bounce slightly when u crank? If so likely vacuum line issues.

mm.. my car is an N/A, sorry i didn't say before. But now that you mention it, the needle did not bounce when i observed it while starting the car

anyone got anymore ideas? I want to get all the information i can get before i go out and buy parts
