Im in the middle of an engine swap and ran into a problem with the transmision bolt. I have one bot left and i can take the engine out. i cant fit the 14mm on this bolt like the rest of them. The 9/16 socket fits but its stripping the bolt. Drenched it in liquid wench but still will not move. Some one plez help.:( :( :(

whack on the socket with a hammer, not enough to mess up the socket. or if you have room, try and heat the block where the thread goes in with a propane torch and remember not to burn the place down!

This is the transmision bolt thats behind the oil filter pedistal. i'll tey the hammer tomarrow but im a brok college student i dont hav a torch.

don't go crazy, just tap on it fairly lightly a few times to try and jar the threads a little.

and another thing, try using the shortest extension as possible or right on the bolt head with no extension if you have the room. the more direct torque you can put on the bolt the head the better. extensions are sponges for torque.

Use your 14mm... make sure to use METRIC, do not use SAE tools. Make sure the size is exactly correct. I assume that you're having trouble getting the 14mm tool in there. Don't use the ratcheting wrench... use a spanner (that dohickey with one closed end and one open end).

So attach the closed end around the bolt, and then loop the closed end of the next-size-up spanner around the open end of the 14mm spanner. This will make the two tools attached, and give you more torque to pull the 14mm with the other spanner. Then fucking put both your feet on your fender and pull with all your might!

Just keep doing that and it'll come... I guarantee it.

If you're having problems understanding what I'm talking about attaching two spanners... just fiddle around with attaching two spanners together, and you'll figure it out. Basically, just put the CIRCLE of one around one of the open ends of the other. It'll create a double-tool of sorts...

Don't know if this was mentioned, if possible use a 6 point socket, not a 12 point one...

6 point laser cut craftsman, never had trouble with them (other than breaking off bolt heads...) but thats something completely different

lol - great mental image there!

If you've been stripping the bolt, you will have a harder time getting the spanner on it. You might need to get some sandpaper or a file in there to clean up the bolt head a bit. Once you do that, a 14mm spanner should slip on there no problem. Good luck!
