Help Me Choose Clutch Kit
Hey Folks, I was looking for a clutch kit for my s5 t2, and saw there is some choices in the racing beat website. I am using the stock flywheel and was thinking was the stage 1 HD .RB Part Number: 12643. whats ur opinion?

You need to ask yourself at what power will be enough.
For most, it's never enough. Every pressure disc feels different. I've had ACT, Exedy, Competition Clutch. As for near stock feel, Exedy and CC. Z65-HDR6 // Advanced Clutch Technology ACT HD pressure plate was too damn stiff. I chose a unsprung 6puck ceramic, boy, was that a mistake. I chose the ACT for track use on weekends but traffic driving sucked. Engagement was too harsh. I'm using this: Products I love this clutch. I chose a clutch I don't want to change due to upgardes. You don't want "just enough" when upgrading. |
Im getting the stage one exedy heavy duty 10803ahd , or the stage one regular.
Will the heavy duty cause problems? I read one guy had problems getting his to disengage |

I'm not sure if Racing Beat has some older clutch kits in stock or if their torque ratings are off, but the current Exedy catalog has all of the current torque ratings on page 32-33. I'm installing the clutch, there isn't much to it. Replace pilot bearing/seal, throwout bearing , align clutch with alignment tool, torque everything to spec, adjust clutch pedal as needed.

I've got a very nice SR Motorsports billet flywheel and full-face clutch out of an FD that you might be interested in. I think to use it on an FC, you would just need the correct counter weight.

I know exedy makes great clutches, I thought the problem that guy experienced could of been due to the higher clamping force that makes the pedal stiffer.
This will be my first expensive clutch other than a center force dual friction, which I wasn't very impressed with. |

This will be my first expensive clutch other than a center force dual friction, which I wasn't very impressed with. Make sure you resurface the flywheel and make sure NO oil/grease...NOTHING is on that flywheel and clutch. I spray the flywheel down with brake cleaner. Make sure you use new parts and change the clutch fork pivot ball. The S4 uses a thinner neck than the S5 . S5 is way beefier BUT...Mazda did make reinforced pivot ball for the S4. With beefed up pressure plate, the S4 can break. You don't want to drop the tranny anytime soon so use new parts. |

So just get a new pivot ball, how much do those go for and how hard is it to change?
The clutch I'm looking at is exedy stage one heavy duty , its rated at 296 wheel torque, I was going to get the regular stage one but the heavy duty is only 40 dollars more , so why not get it instead if its nicer. |

Unscrew...screw. Any clutch is fine as long as you have in mind what sort of upgrade you are planning. Everyone has different opinion on their favorites so you won't have everyone agreeing on one set. Just remember, don't get unsprung clutch if you're using the car for the street. |
I'm using a ACT Street/Strip clutch. Very easy to drive smoothly and I've never been let down by it on a hard launch. I only have about 200 lb-ft, but it is rated for 330. Pedal is slightly heavy, but I don't even notice it now.

My CFDF is 25,000 miles into it's life on my 90 N/A vert. I'm putting one in my 88 10 Anny. I think people who are impressed by stiff clutch pedals won't like CFDF clutch.
