Like he said - It's easy to get the lines backwards.

DelSlow 09-26-03 11:17 AM

no, i got the lines hooked up right, im also getting spark and good compression, there was also a little fuel on the spark plug when i took it out

also, where does the grounding wire by the windshield wiper motor bolt to on the engine, i had it bolted to the manifold, but it keeps getting hot

anybody? damn, its gonna cost me a shitload to take it to a dealeship.

It goes from the firewall to the bell housing.
It is the primary ground for the alternator & spark plugs.
Most of us replace the cheesy clip on the firewall with a bolt on eyelet.
Many of us also add another ground from the alternator frame to the spark coil mount.
If that ground and the battery to starter ground are not perfect, the ECU signals get biased and the ECU goes nuts.

Get the FSM section about 'fuel and emissions' from SURESHOT's site.

Check if the ECU grounds are actually grounded.

The injectors should see +12V on the common side. The ecu grounds them on the other side, that make them open (and bring the fuel). It's a pulse though.

the firewall to bellhousing ground is getting hot and starts to smoke after about 3 sec of the starter being turned over, why would it do that?

I sprayed some starter fluid into the intake after the intercooler, but it didnt do anything, but i could smell it in the exhaust, but no fuel smell.

go get a 4 gauge battry cable from auto zone bolt it to the alt and the other end to the shock tower bolt. that will give you a better ground and get rid of that crappy stock ground. i allso have a 2 gauge bat cable going from the bat to the starter bolt. also check all your wires it almost sounds like a short.

Are you sure the fuel lines are connected the right way? The fuel system on J-spec motors runs in the opposite direction. The supply from the fuel filter connects to the secondary rail, NOT the primary like on US-spec motors. The return line connects to the primary rail, which has the FPR on it. If you reconnected the fuel lines the same way as your old motor, it won't run.

are you sure youre not getting fuel? I would check the plugs and if they're wet, wipe them off and add about a half or a cup of oil into the spark plug hole w/ a syringe. You may have flooded it at one point in time and not even know it.
