HELP! lost all vacuum
 

i have lost all vacuum in my upper intake what happened and is wrong
need answers quick!

what do u mean by you lost vacuum?? you mean like your boost gauge doesnt work?? does it work at all?? does the car start or run or anything??

need more info, what kind of car, and go into more detail how you think it "lost vacume" or how u can tell??

sorry,i was in a hurry and had to run to the auto parts store. anyways.. its a 90 n/a and today i lost all vacuum on my upper intake. its kinda hard to explane, but the i noticed it when the suction on the oil filler well didn't have any suction. i decided to pop a few lines and see which ones were workin and not. turns out the three on the back of the intake don't have any vacuum what so ever. but the one on the front does. i can;t figure out where or what has failed for this to occur, anyone have any idea. i know it may sound a little confusing but i don't really understand the routing of the vacuum, so if anyone has any idea please leave a post.

Whats the matter with the car, will it idle?

not all the lines running around everywhere will have vacume at all times, there a bank of like 5 solinoides on the passenger side of the engine those are blocked off most of the time, various emiosions and other weird crap.....

does the car run fine?? is a big question if it is running fine then theres not a problem

uh.... quit trying to find a problem that doesn't exist. if the engine runs fine then keep driving it, if the engine is running then there is vacuum present, believe me!

Only a couple of the nipples on the throttle body/dynamic chamber pull vacuum. MOST lead to a passage before the throttle plates and hence they do not pull a vacuum.

ok i know theres a problem because i have no suction going to the oil filler tube. if i have no vacuum here there is a problem, if it doesn't vacuum here there is no ventelation to the oil pan. what is happening is there is pressure being built in the pan. and if pressure continues to build it will blow a seal or gasket. i am thinking the front cover seal or the oil pan gasket.

i noticed it when it began to leak on the side of the oil filler (i guess its kinda were the tubing acts like a pvc valve) but the other night somthing else blew. i am not sure were it came from but on start up oil was sprayed on the floor in my garage. not dripped or spilt but sprayed. this is how i disscovered my problem.

i know some lines don't have vacuum but, the one on the oil filler should in order to vent the oil pan.

There shouldn't be any vacuum there unless the engine is rev'd to above approx 2000 rpm (FSM)

are you sure it was engine oil and not power steering fluid or something else?

Well... Think about this practically. You say there's, "no suction going to the oil filler tube", but you say that this is a bad thing because without suction there's no ventilation... Isn't that contradictory?

If it's leaking oil then that means that it IS venting... I believe there should be a flexible vac. line running from the oil-filler neck nipple, then it turns into a hard-line on the fire-wall and plugs into the charcoal canister (or something).

The reason there's a nipple on the oil filler neck is so that it can vent... Vent means expell... Whether it expells into an "environmentally sound" place or onto the road doesn't really matter as far as your motor goes.

More than likely, everything is OK.

ok is the dynamic chamber supposted to have vacuum or not. cuz non of it has any vacuum. and the purge control valve thas where there the oil filler tube goes to.

It possible to fing out which nipple is vacuum and which is a air supply.

Access the front of the throttle body.

Light up a cigar.

Blow smoke into a given nipple.

If the smoke exits in front of the throttle plates.........it's not a vacuum source.

Done.
