HELP! I've got an emergency!!!
 

I was driving to my friend's place this morning and all the sudden my car started going crazy!

When I came ot a stop light the car would idle bounce, the radio kept turning on and off, all the gauges on my trouble pannel turned on, my windows rolled up and down real slow.

Why did I lose all electrical power?

I need to get home which is 40 miles from here!!!

Sounds like your alternator just died. Check the belt.

yeah the belt just fried.. I went out to check that immediately after posting the first time.. I sthere ANY way I can replace that myself? DOes anyone have a pic where it all goes?

I'm at my friends place and I'm screwed if I can't get the car home!
I don't even know if it's going to start at this point because of my loss of an alternator!

Well pepboys has it in stock.. I just don't know how the belt is run or if i'm going to be able to do it in a parkinglot.. Can anyone give me some insight?

This might help. The pulley at the top of the image is the alternator pulley. (This is on a '90 N/A GTU, so it may be a bit different on your car.) The belt should be installed in the rear-most slot on the fan pulley. You will probably need to remove the air pump belt in order to get the alternator belt back to the correct slot on the fan pulley. To get the new belt back to that slot on the fan pulley, loosen the bolts on the air pump and temporarily remove the air pump belt. Snake the alternator belt around the fan blades and back to the rear slot. Loosen the bolts on the alternator, install the new belt and adjust the belt tension according to the factory manual, tighten the bolts. Then reinstall the air pump belt, adjust belt tension, tighten the bolts.

IF you are running power steering and A/C, those belts are going to have to come off first as well.

Yeah I took it to Sears Auto (right around the corner from my friend's place). They are replacing ALL the belts.. They're all pretty old.. I don't have the tools available at my friends' to do it myself.. :(
