Help identifing ECU type
As I posted yesterday I just bought a '91 NA Vert that the previous owner started doing a TII swap on.
He claims that everything is finished except for the wiring harness and ECU are the original NA ones, but I'm not believing his story. Here are pics of the ECU and the harness, and (from what I can remember, it's been a while since I've had a turbo 7) this looks like an S4 turbo ECU and harness. Can anyone properly identify the harness and ECU by just looking at the pictures? http://www.illism.com/Vert/007.jpg http://www.illism.com/Vert/008.jpg http://www.illism.com/Vert/009.jpg http://www.illism.com/Vert/010.jpg Also, random Vert question. When I try and lower the top all I get is a beep from what I think is coming from being the driver's seat, any ideas on that? I unclamped the locking mechanisms. |
well the harness has the airbag wires on it, which makes it 91 vert...
stock vert ecu is n352/n353 (ca/federal), that one looks like n374 which would be japanese turbo |
N374 is S5 J-spec turbo, and the harness is likely the original harness converted to work with the ECU. Get ready for injector problems using that ECU. N374 is evil.

Or... based on whats seen here should this car be running the way it is? |

An NA harness is the best way to go for a turbo swap using a stock or stock-like ECU. There are much fewer wiring modifications needed than with TII harnesses. The simplest solution for you would be to use an N370 US-spec S5 TII ECU, but they can be a little hard to find. The N374 does have the option to be chipped by Pocketlogger if you want to turn it into an Rtek 2.0: http://www.pocketlogger.com/index.ph...age=2&ecu=S5T2.

A friend has a N333 ECU that he said I can have for $20. Would this work? I don't care if the airbag no longer works with whatever ECU I end up using...
