Help, i don't want to get screwed!
 

So all of a sudden, when i started my car, it wouldn't go into any gear. Towed it to aamco who told me that my slave cylinder leaked/went out along with the piston in my master cylinder and sice the hydraulic fluid leaked in the slave cylinder once they open it up it will get all over the clutch plate which, since there is no way to clean a clutch plate would mean i need a new clutch kit. I don't relly know much about cars but are they trying to jerk me around, or is that stuff all possible? They're trying to get me to spend $950 to do it all but they wont even let me get my own clutch to put it in cause then it wouldn't be under warranty. Can I just put some brake fluid in the clutch reservoir , get some hydraulic pressure up and drive it to another shop? or dry shift it?

So if indeed, i do need a new clutch which would you recommend? I have a completely stock 87 n/a. Most likely the only power upgrades i'll be doing is straight exhaust and intake. ACT, Exedy, centerforce, XTD? While I have it apart is it a good idea to upgrade my flywheel to get some extra available horsepower? Stage 1 or stage 2?

Ummm... I don't know how much could've gotten in there. There is a cover plate on the top of the tranny that's the only point it could leak in but you'd really have to fuck up removing the slave cylinder to get any in there.

The replacement of the clutch master and slave is a piece of cake. The slave is just sitting on top of the tranny and the master is tucked in the corner, easy. :D

Your clutch slave just unbolts from the top of the tranny, you can see it from the driver side of the engine bay easy. I dont see how it could have leaked into the tranny as long as its still connected to the motor. Swapping out the slave and master cylinder are both an easy job and shouldn't take more then an hour and a buddy to help bleed the system. Go put some fluid in the clutch master and see if you can get it to shift, if the leaks that bad then just tow it home or to a decent shop.

Well, someone here may have more experience with this than I do but I replaced my slave cylinder on my TII and had no problems with anything leaking onto the clutch plate.

Should just be able to replace your slave cylindar along with your master and fix the problem. Cause once you lose all the fluid in those then it basically turns into you having no clutch to a very very soft clutch.

I would say they are trying to screw you and would get a second opinion or find someone maybe on here that lives close enough to maybe help you.

Get your car out of there as fast as you can. These guys are trying to hose you, badly. Total cost for all the parts they are talking about is less than 250, and you don't need all of them, unless your clutch is shot.

Brand new, the clutch slave master and clutch line is less than 100 and takes, at most, an hour to install. That is probably all you need. If you can change your spark plugs, you can do this repair yourself. Just get a friend who has the tools and some experience and do it.

Hell for what they want, you could buy a full tool set, jack and jack stands, parts and do the work yourself and still save money, even paying for a tow back to your house.
