HELP! fuel system problem and no one knows whats wrong

new fuel pump
new fuel filter
cleaned the injectors and fuel lines ect ect
dropped gas tank, sent to radiator shop to have coated (was BAD!)
checked all the wiring, getting perfect voltage to pump.

turn car on, runs and idles. heats up to about 189-191 and then the fuel pressure starts dropping off, and the car dies. i can turn the car back on it will run for about 2 seconds and then start dying even if i pump the gas.

and im still getting 13.75 volts to the fuel pump while this is going on.

could it be vapor locking? and also the vaccum lines going to the fuel pressure regulator are peachy.

car is megasquirted btw.

miles on the motor?

or you may just need to change all the vacuum lines...

Your watching a fuel pressure gauge and the pressure is seen to be dropping? From what psi to what psi?

flaresniper 06-10-06 05:09 PM

pressure drops from 55psi t0 40 t0 2? to 0. all in a matter of about 10 seconds.

there are about 60k miles on the motor, and all the vaccum's are brand new.

I've no clue, unless the fuel lines are somehow connected wrong/backwards.

55 at the beginning seems a bit high to me. At idle you'd expect to see the high 20's to low 30's.

Your gauge is tee'd just after the fuel filter??????

USA engine or JSPEC?

Ever have the fuel pump apart-O ring not sealing and pumping fuel back to the tank rather then into the line? Did you jump the fuel pump connector on the right of the engine bay and check the pressure gauge?
