help! flywhel pic
heres the story, i have an s5 engine and s4 5spd tranny so i went out and got a used s5 5 spd flywheel, my problem is that the flywheel i got looks nothing like the auto flywheel on the engine and i have not yet taken out the s4 engine/tranny to compare and i want to make sure i have the correct flywheel b4 i spend money to get it machined, so foes anyone have a pic or can tell me a sure fire way to tell the difference between an s4 and s5 flywheel i appreciate it thank you.

Just checking.
This is an S5 NA with an automatic counterweight & flex plate? You are mounting an S5 flywheel for a manual tranny swap, using an S4 tranny & drive shaft.? If so, it should bolt up after you pull off the counterweight. The S4/S5 clutch disc spline may be different. BTW don't loose that counterweight. It's a popular item since the aftermarket light flywheels need it. |
the manual trans flywheel WILL look different then the auto FLEX PLATE (not a flywheel)
theres a pretty big difference between a flywheel and automatic flexplate...
An S5 N/A flywheel will have "350" stamped on the back of it. That's the surest way of identifying it.
oh so thats a flex plate? so do i take that off and put on the flywheel?? and yes it does have "350" stamped on it so it is the right one thanx.
Since you have an automatic counterweight at your disposal - it would be a PERFECT time to upgrade to a lightweight flywheel. This is a fun mod.
yes the flexplate gets replaced by the flywheel
flexplate aka automatic flywheel flywheel aka manual trans flywheel its all teminology.. but yes u remove that crap shoot and put the m/t one on |
