HELP Engine Problems
My friend wants to buy a1990 rx-7 none turbo but the engine has some problems.[LIST][*]The engine wont turn back on when it's up to temperature
I was wondering if someone could tell me if that would be somthing serious or just a sensor? Thanks |
Could be low compression or leaky injectors or something else.
If I were your friend, I would be wary of buying this car. BE SURE to get a compression check before purchasing. A few tips on what to look for when buying a 2nd Gen RX-7... http://aaroncake.net/RX-7/buy1.htm |
How would i do a compression test? what tools would i need? What would be the best way to check the injectors?

A Mazda dealer should be able to do the test for you as well. |
go buy a 86-91 rx7 repair manual and it tells you most every trobbleshoot you needa know, also what tools you need.

thanks alot!!! im going to check out the car on sunday hopefully its just a leaky injector but i dought it.
|
Dam!!! the engine had broken apex seals. Thanks alot thou
|
You should have been able to tell that without a compression check... ...
Hot start problem could be anything from injectors to low compression, however a busted Apex seal usually has a super crappy idle--if at all. |
Yea it did... it was like it could't find a idle at all. The engine had alot problems but the seller didn't want to tell my friend until I checked it out and with your help we avoided buying a crapy engine.
Im new to rotory engines so im still doing my homework on them |
