ok so, i found where its leaking at, a nipple was coming off and now its completely off, what a pain in the ass, its the hardest one. thanks for everyones help!

If you want the repair to be permanent, then pull the nipple out of the block and tap the hole for a 1/2" grub screw. Put sealant on the screw and tighten it in place. Then if you are paranoid, fill the remaining hole with JB-Weld.

ok so im trying to fix this leak and well... i cant remove the uim, and the upper manifold, because of the gasket with blue silicon how in the world can i remove it?

You're going to have to pull the UIM. With the engine in the care there's no good way to tap the hole and properly repair it.

While you're at it make sure to replace the hose by the filler neck too. Thanks to the inverted oil filter design that poor thing gets oil soaked and eventually bursts from being eaten alive. ;)

anybody know any tricks on how to remove the uim, i know how to do it u just remove the bolts...etc... but i have silicon & a gasket. (that just got put on there about 9 months ago). and i cant seem to get it off.. im just not strong enough!... anybody know any tricks to get it off..??

guess ill try to resurrect this thread in hopes of an answer instead of goin thru much of the same over again to get to here. i too have a leak near the firewall.. coolant dripping off the transmission.. spray on the firewall an surrounding hoses.

i am thinking the problem is much the same as previous in this thread, the hose that runs down from the throttle body to the rear iron, except one thing.. where the hose itself attaches to the rear iron there is no signs of a leak, but there is a pool of coolant i can see on top of the engine, there are visible areas where it has sprayed coolant from somewhere, at the rate of about a litre per half hour drive. however to look at the spray pattern, and then the hoses etc.. it just doesnt make any sense as to where it might be comin from.

my question is simply this.. is there anything else back there that carries coolant besides the mentioned hose, and the nipple, and the myriad of other hoses mentioned in this post? i mean do any of the metal tubes or anything at all carry coolant that might be leaking?

i spose while i wait ill pull the one from the tb to the rear iron off an see what it looks like up close.. should be fun

If this is the case... I would expect it's the hose that connects under the UIM. I guess there's a chance it could be the hose that goes to the thermowax but it doesn't sound like it to me.

just wanted to double check, as i am far from a mechanic an frankly never gave a rats ass about cars till i got my 7. now it seems ive fallen in love with a vicious bitch of a car that wasnt cared for well enough back in the day, an im tryin to get it sorted out. for what its worth, to anyone else with similar problem, i couldnt help but notice that the whole time i was disconnectiong coolant hoses from the bac an such not a drop was spilled until i pulled the one from under the uim, so id say theres a good chance where the problem is although the hose looks pretty good.

now my far from mechanic ass has to try an put tab A into slot B repeat an see if i can put everything back together again
