HELP! Car turns over but wont start

Ok so had a jspec turbo II engine swapped into my 89 GXL auto but kept it on the auto tranny and drove it around for a while....
finally got everything and swapped in the turbo tranny and now the car wont start.....
it turns over but wont start at all
i tried seeing if it was flooded a few times and that didnt help anything....then i put in new plugs and that didnt do anything.....the only thing that i was able to find all day was with the leading coil(i think its leading, the one in the front of the car) i checked the voltage on it and it was reading at .6 ohms which in the haynes manual it says between .2 and 1 ohm so i should be ok there but i pulled the plug wires and put on of the old plugs in it and turned the car over to check the spark but neither of the wires coming off that coil would spark
so i dont know if something is wrong with the plug wire or if the plug was bad or what is going on
anyone have any ideas??????

Check all your fuses, specifically under the hood (EGI).

Perhaps you need to charge the battery. Try the complex un-flooding procedure from www.rx7.com

I had my car not want to start after unflooding if four times but it ended up being the battery that was low on charge.

the method for unfloodin i did was to pull the two bottom plugs and then crank it over for a few sec with the egi pulled....then put the plugs in and crank it over again....then put the egi in and it should have worked

sure your EGI fuse is good and in the correct spot? And when checking spark did you put it back in? If not it won't spark at all, and if you do test it that way, the cars going to spark and try to ignite whatever gas there is, which can be bad for your health and others, so be careful :)

i put a plug in the end of the wire and put the plug near a bolt in the engine bay to see if it would arc over to the bolt

Was your EGI fuse in or removed at that time?

ramello 08-09-03 01:49 AM

it was in

SonicRaT 08-09-03 01:51 AM

if it won't fire with the EGI fuse in, then either A) coil is bad B) plug wire is bad C) plug is bad D) you have terrible grounds E) your EGI fuse is bad F) the wiring to the coil is fuqt

i checked the voltage on the coil so im thinking the coil is ok so i guess ill try new plug wires i guess they cant hurt and then im gonna try and do the unflooding that rx7.com says to do and pull all four plugs etc...

ramello 08-09-03 01:54 AM

but on that note im tired as hell i was up at 8am to finish up the last minute things with the car like bolting on exhaust etc and i figured id of been drivin my baby around but no stupid car! argh

Didn't accidently forget the ground wire, per chance? :)
